Hajduk’s footballers have made a successful start to the new season in the Serbian League, Vojvodina group. In their opening league match, played at Milan Sredanović Stadium, the team from Kula beat Radnički from Zrenjanin 2:0. The first half was played mostly between the two penalty areas, with few promising chances, and ended goalless. Early in the second half, Milan Matijević opened the scoring against Radnički, and Vukan Popović scored a second goal in stoppage time to seal Hajduk’s win. In the second round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina group, Hajduk will visit Tisa in Adorjan. You can watch a recording of the Hajduk–Radnički Zrenjanin match on KU Television tonight from 20.
The Sombor District League season has also begun, with former First League club Crvenka, as well as Rusin of Ruski Krstur and Lipar, competing from our municipality.
Rusin’s footballers got off to a winning start in the first round, beating Borce from Obrovac 2:1 in Ruski Krstur. Darko Sušić and Janko Kulić scored for Rusin. Rusin coach Zlatko Sajanković says he is pleased with the win, but that his team could and should have won by a wider margin, as there were opportunities to do so. Rusin also brought in several new players during the transfer window: experienced goalkeeper Kronić, as well as Sušić and Ognjen Marković. Đukanović, who has stopped playing, and Landžužanin, who is taking a break due to injury, are absent from last year’s squad, while Danojević and goalkeeper Kalinić have left the club.
Former first-league team Crvenka played away in Paraćin in the opening round, where they lost to the hosts, Budućnost, 5:2; the halftime score was 4:1. Crvenka's difficult situation is reflected in the fact that an outfield player was in goal in Paraćin. Milan Subotić scored both goals for Crvenka, one from a free kick and the other from a penalty.
In the first round of the Sombor District League championship, Lipar’s footballers visited Silbaš, where the hosts, Naša Zvezda, beat them 4:1. Luka Živko scored Lipar’s consolation goal. Lipar’s coach and player Milan Šegan said that his players’ lack of fitness, a consequence of poor training attendance, had become apparent. In the second round of the Sombor District League, Crvenka will host Budućnost from Gložan on Saturday, Rusin will also travel to face Borac in Bački Gračac on Saturday, while Lipar will host Kordun from Kljajićevo on Sunday.
Last weekend, the first memorial basketball tournament “For Birsa and Fare” was held in Sivac. It was organized by the Sivac Basketball Club in memory of its two deceased former players, Boris Đunisić and Cvetozar
Mirosavljeva – Fareta. The participants in the memorial tournament were basketball players from Vrbas, Hajduk from Kula, Dunav from Apatin and Sivac. The tournament was opened by Kula Municipality President Damjan Miljanić. Zlatko Bolić, Secretary General of the Basketball Federation of Serbia, and Sava Rajković, President of the Basketball Federation of Vojvodina, also attended the opening ceremony.
On Saturday, the first day of the “For Boris and Fare” memorial tournament, Sivac’s basketball players, strengthened for the occasion by Stefan Krstajić, who grew up in Sivac and now plays for the “FMP Academy” in North Macedonia, defeated Vrbas 99:73 to reach the final. The other finalists were Dunav from Apatin, who beat Hajduk 58:50. On Sunday, the second day of the tournament, Vrbas beat Hajduk 82:68 in the third-place game, while Sivac defeated Dunav from Apatin 81:68 in the final. Sivac thus won the trophy awarded to the winners of the first “For Boris and Fare” memorial basketball tournament. Stefan Krstajić was named MVP—the tournament’s best and most valuable player.
The traditional Lipar night tournament, renamed this year the “Goran Marčetić – Mačak Memorial” in memory of a former Lipar player, is entering its final stages. Three semi-finalists are known, while the fourth will be decided tonight, when “Etno Luks Bet 365” of Kula and “Mig Mont” of Lipar meet in the quarter-final.
The Lipar tournament semifinals will be played on Friday. Ares VND from Kula will face MM Gvožđara, also from Kula, while in the other semifinal, “Leteći Holanđanin” from Vrbas will play the winner of tonight’s quarterfinal. We should also mention that tonight’s quarterfinal between “Etno luks bet 365” and “Mig Mont” starts at 21 o’clock.
