It was an exciting weekend in sports, highlighted by a victory for the Sivac handball team

The final round of the Super B Handball League was marked by Sivac’s handball players. In the local derby played in Crvenka, Sivac managed to beat the hosts 36:35, with Crvenka leading 18:17 at half-time. Free of any pressure to achieve a particular result, the handball players of Crvenka and Sivac tried to show the Crvenka handball fans everything that makes the sport beautiful. More attention was paid to attack than defence, as the 71 goals scored attest. As for the match itself, neither team managed to establish a significant lead, and Sivac’s players kept their composure better, securing the win with a goal by Slavuljica in the closing moments. Žegarac was Sivac’s top scorer with 9 goals and was named player of the match, while Nikolić and Bošković scored 7 goals each for Crvenka.

Crvenka’s handball team finished the Super B League season in seventh place, and Sivac’s in eighth, with 21 points each.

Football news coming up

Hajduk’s footballers beat Tekstilac from Odžaci 2:1 in their 28-round Serbian League Vojvodina Group match in front of their home crowd, keeping alive their hopes of avoiding relegation from the Serbian League in the remaining two rounds. In the first half, probably constrained by the importance of the match, Hajduk’s players missed two excellent chances: first Radmanović in the 18 minute and then Matijašević in the 23 minute found themselves one-on-one with Tekstilac goalkeeper Brać, but failed to score. They were punished in the 43 minute, when Tekstilac player Serdar headed the ball past Hajduk goalkeeper Drinčić after a cross, and the teams went into the break with the visitors in the lead. At the start of the second half, Hajduk were awarded a penalty, rightly given after Božović was brought down in front of Tekstilac’s goal. Vlaisavljević took the penalty and sent the ball just wide of the left post. These missed chances did not demoralize Hajduk, and Božović in the 54 minute and Matijašević in the 67 minute scored the goals that earned Hajduk three points.

Hajduk’s footballers are currently thirteenth in the standings with 33 points, and in the next round they visit Feniks in Stara Pazova. A recording of the Hajduk–Tektilac match will be shown on KU Television tonight at 20.

A complete success for our representatives in the Sombor District League. In the matches of the 27 round of the championship, Crvenka’s footballers beat Budućnost from Mladenovo 2:0 on Saturday on their home ground. Crvenka striker Jovanović opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and the second goal, which confirmed the victory, came in the 52 minute, when Crvenka captain Milan Subotić found the net. Rusin’s footballers achieved a convincing victory, beating Budućnost from Parage 5:0 in Ruski Krstur. In-form Sušić and Marković scored two goals each, while young Sajanković scored one for Rusin. Our third representative in the District League, Lipar, hosted bottom-placed Radnički from Sombor and recorded the expected win. The final score was 4:1 in Lipar’s favor, with Čestić, Šegan, Marčetić and Mijić scoring. After this round, Rusin are fourth in the standings with 52 points, Crvenka are eleventh with 36, and Lipar are twelfth with 33 points. In the next round, Crvenka visit leaders Bratstvo in Prigrevica, Lipar visit ŽAK in Sombor, and Rusin travel to face Budućnost in Gložan.

In the 24 round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division, Kula defeated Graničar 2:0 away in Riđica, keeping their hopes of promotion alive. Nemanja Novakov and Marko Savić scored for Kula in Riđica. Polet lost 4:2 to BSK from Bački Brestovac in front of their home fans in Sivac. Perlić and the experienced Furtula scored for Polet. The most exciting match was in Kruščić, where Mladost hosted promotion contenders Hajduk from Stapар. The match ended in a 4:4 draw, and the team from Kruščić had reason to rue the result: they had led by 4:1, and were just three minutes of regulation time and three minutes of added time away from victory. However, those six minutes were enough for Hajduk's players to score three goals and earn a valuable point that put them at the top of the standings. Gačević scored twice for Mladost, with Sobek and Grdinić scoring one each. Kula are currently third in the standings with 45 points, two fewer than leaders Hajduk from Stapar; Polet are sixth with 35, and Mladost are tenth with 25 points. In the next round, Mladost host Graničar from Riđica in Kruščić, Kula visit Dinamo in Bački Breg, and Polet from Sivac will face Hajduk in Stapar.

The past weekend also featured two tennis tournaments held in Kula on Saturday. The first was the “Kula Open Championship,” organized by Tennis Club “Hajduk” for orange-level players—girls and boys up to 10 years of age. This tournament is an official competition, as it is included in the Vojvodina Tennis Association calendar.

As for the results, Hajduk’s David Barna took first place in the boys’ competition, while Branislav Sladić, a member of the Tisa Tennis Club from Bečej, came second. Third place was shared by Hajduk member Novak Korać and Gunarathne Chaniru Saven, a boy from Sri Lanka who plays for Elite Tennis Club from Novi Sad. In the girls’ competition, first place went to Sara Christidis, a member of Novi Sad’s Vojvodina, and second to Daša Cvetković, a member of the SLP Tennis Club.

The second tennis tournament held in Kula on Saturday was organized by the Helm Tennis Club. It was a charity doubles tournament, “Tennis from the Block,” in which amateur and advanced recreational players could compete alongside active tennis players.

A total of 11 pairs took part, and after a series of exciting matches, first place went to the doubles team from Odžaci, Aleksandar Tomas and Niko Martinović, who beat the Vrbas-Kula pairing of Miloš Lučić and Jožef Barna in the final. Third place went to the Vrbas pair of Vladimir Hardi and Borko Bugarski. As mentioned, this tennis tournament was held for charity. Just under 80 thousand dinars was collected from entry fees and donations, and the funds raised were donated to the Srbи za Srbe humanitarian organization, whose main goals and tasks include working to improve living and working conditions for Serbian families in countries where Serbs live and where assistance is needed.
