We had a busy weekend in sports, with football, handball and tennis in the spotlight

In the 6 round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group, Hajduk’s footballers lost 5:2 away to Jedinstvo in Stara Pazova, with the halftime score at 2:0. According to Hajduk head coach Željko Račić, it was a very strange match. The Kula side started the game very well, but still allowed the home team to score two easy goals and take a 2:0 lead. In the second half, Jedinstvo extended its lead to three goals. Then Hajduk goalkeeper Drinčić was sent off, and despite being a player down, the Kula side managed to cut the deficit to 3:2 through goals by Milan Matijević. They then created a string of chances and hit the post, before the home side were awarded a penalty and Hajduk’s reserve goalkeeper Golović was also sent off. Captain Slobodan Vuković went in goal, which the home team took advantage of, scoring twice for a final score of 5:2. Hajduk are currently twelfth in the table with 7 points, and will host Borac from Sakule in the next round.
The sixth round of the Sombor District League was highlighted by the municipal derby played in Lipar, where Lipar faced Rusin from Ruski Krstur. The home side made an excellent start, taking the lead through Dejan Davidović, but Rusin’s players managed to equalize, and the teams went into the break at 1:1. Rusin’s quality and Lipar’s lack of fitness came to the fore in the second half, with the visitors scoring three goals to win 4:1. Holik, Kulić, Sajanković and Sušić scored for Rusin in Lipar. Our third representative in the Sombor District League, Crvenka, lost 3:1 at home to Borac from Bački Gračac, with the half-time score 1:1. Crvenka’s only goal was scored by captain Milan Subotić, a spectacular free kick. Rusin are currently fifth in the table with 12 points, Crvenka are fourteenth with 3, and Lipar are fifteenth with one point. In the seventh round next weekend, Rusin host ŽAK from Sombor in Ruski Krstur, Crvenka travel to face Radnički in Ratkovo, and Lipar visit Borac in Obrovac.
A municipal derby was also played in the fifth round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division championship. At Geder, Kula’s footballers beat Mladost from Kruščić 2:1, and the fact that they had to work hard to earn the expected points is shown by the fact that they scored the winning goal in stoppage time. Gačević and Husak scored for Kula, while Hrnčar scored for Mladost. Previously unbeaten Polet from Sivac visited Svilojevo, and the Sivac side left the pitch with their heads bowed after losing to Terekveš 2:1. Two shots by Terekveš players found the back of the Sivac net, while of Polet’s many chances, only one was converted into a goal by Marković. Kula are currently second in the table with 12 points, Polet are fourth with 10, while Mladost are twelfth with 4 points. Another municipal derby is up next: Polet and Kula will meet in Sivac, while Mladost will host Dinamo from Bački Breg in Kruščić.
The handball season in the First League of Serbia, Vojvodina Group, has begun, featuring two teams from the municipality of Kula: Laki Handball Club from Crvenka and Krule from Sivac. The draw dictated that both teams would be away in Ruma in the first round. Laki played its match against Ruma on Friday and lost 39:20, with a halftime score of 21:9. Given that Laki is by far the youngest team in the league, with just one player born in 2005 and all the others younger, such a decisive defeat is hardly surprising. Laki’s top scorer was Marija Ivić with 6 goals. Sivac women’s handball club “Krule” is a newcomer to the first-division ranks, and in its opening match in Ruma, Krule suffered a defeat against Sloven. The home team won 30:23, with a halftime score of 14:10. Krule’s top scorers were Milica Rabrenović with 9 and Aleksandra Jelenković with 8 goals. In the second round, Laki will host Jadran from Feketić in Crvenka, while Krule will welcome the Ruma team in Sivac.
Last weekend, Tennis Club “Hajduk” hosted the Kula Open Championship for tennis players aged up to 14. This is a Category 2 tournament included in the calendar of the Tennis Association of Vojvodina. 20 boys and eight girls demonstrated their tennis skills, and after a series of exciting matches, Vuk Pantić Crnčević, a member of Tennis Club Academy Bogdan Obradović, won the boys' competition, while Verica Zrnić, a member of Tennis Club Sport Land Novi Sad, won the girls' competition. In the boys' final, Vuk Pantić Crnčević beat Sergej Vasić, a member of Tennis Club Vojvodina from Novi Sad, 2:0 in sets, while Verica Zrnić also won 2:0 in sets against Ines Stojanović, a member of Tennis Club Spartak from Subotica. It is worth noting that the winners of the Kula Open Championship reached the championship trophy without losing a set. Also, in the girls' competition, third place was shared by Vanja Mirilović, a member of Tennis Club Elite from Novi Sad, and Tara Pranić, a member of Tennis Club “ANS” Novi Sad. In the boys' competition, third place was shared by Krsto Krivokapić, a member of Tennis Club “Trik” from Belgrade, and Minja Živković, a member of Tennis Club “BMK” from Novi Sad.
