Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said last night that, if citizens’ behavior does not change, he will be ready next week to propose to the government introducing a 24-hour curfew.
“We will introduce a 24-hour curfew next week if these measures do not work, in order to protect citizens’ lives,” he announced on TV Prva.
“If it proves necessary, we will make that decision, because the goal is to protect people. We are doing this not for ourselves, because if that were the case, we would not have said that you can walk your pets. The point is that people need to understand that they pose a danger. Everyone has the right to be irresponsible toward themselves, but not toward others. You have no right to endanger other people—not your mother, your father or anyone else. You must behave responsibly,” he stressed.
Vučić pointed out that if a 24-hour curfew is introduced, it will be strictly enforced—anyone found out on the street will be detained.
