Last night, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that the state of emergency, and therefore the curfew, could be lifted on Thursday, once the decision is adopted by Parliament and published in the Official Gazette.
With the lifting of the state of emergency, the curfew and the deployment of the military for civilian purposes are being discontinued.
Speaking on Hit Tweet, Vučić said that two conditions had been met: one, that for seven days the increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases had remained below 5 percent 19, and the other, that fewer people were on ventilators.
“We have both, cumulatively acquired qualifying conditions,” he noted.
President Vučić said that the issue of reopening the borders is more complicated and that they will be reopened gradually.
President Vučić will meet with representatives of political parties today. We will hold elections on 14 or 21 June; we will discuss this at the meeting, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
“I am ready to go as far as June 14,” Vučić said.
