Sports results from last weekend

The past sports weekend was one of the least successful for clubs from our municipality, and will be remembered for Hajduk’s first defeat in the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group—and what a defeat it was: the Kula side lost the match without conceding a goal. The fourteenth-round Serbian League, Vojvodina Group, match between Kabel and Hajduk, played yesterday in Novi Sad, 1912 ended 1:0 in Kabel’s favor, even though no one present saw a goal, except assistant referee Nemanja Batalo from Ruma. Stoppage time was being played; Hajduk goalkeeper Bojan Brać caught a ball headed toward his net and was preparing to clear it. Referee Nikola Petrović had not stopped play, but the home players then rushed toward the assistant referee, who was about fifteen meters from the corner flag and, of course, could not have seen anything. However, after consulting with the assistant referee, the main referee signaled for the Kula players to restart from the center, on the grounds that the ball had supposedly crossed the goal line. Even Kabel’s player, credited with the goal, admitted after the match that he had not seen the ball cross the line. The fact that the main referee showed the Kula side eleven yellow cards, and sent off Hajduk player Kojčić in the 25 minute, also shows that their trip to Novi Sad was not going to be easy. And when the home players could not score, the referees stepped in, so it is fair to say that Kabel beat Hajduk with a goal by referee Batalo. After this round, Hajduk are top of the table with 35 points, and in the next round they host Železničar from Pančevo.

In the twelfth round of the Northern group of the Vojvodina League, Crvenka’s footballers drew 2:2 away to Mladost in Turija. Crvenka led 2:0 until the 65th minute, but then faltered, allowing the hosts to equalize. In the end, they can be satisfied with a point, as Mladost had a golden opportunity to win when the score was level but failed to convert it, and the match ended in a draw. Crvenka’s goals were scored by Manojlović and Milan Subotić. Crvenka are eleventh in the standings with 14 points, and host Sloga from Čonoplja in the next round.

The twelfth round of the Sombor District League was marked by a local derby in Sivac, where Rusin from Ruski Krstur beat hosts Polet 3:1. Kula lost 2:1 to Krila Krajine from Bačka Palanka at Geder, while Lipar lost 1:0 to OFK Odžaci in Odžaci. Rusin are second in the standings with 23 points, Kula are tenth with 14, Lipar are fifteenth with 8, and Polet are bottom, in sixteenth place, with 6 points. In the next round, Rusin host Kulpin, Lipar host ŽAK from Sombor, Kula visit Radnički in Ratkovo, and Sivac's Polet visit Krila Krajine in Bačka Palanka.

In the tenth round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division, Mladost from Kruščić lost 4:2 to Partizan from Kupusina in front of their home fans. Following the defeat, Mladost are eleventh in the standings with 6 points, and next round they visit OFK Šikara in Sombor.

Sivac’s Polet women’s football team also had an unsuccessful outing, losing 4:2 to hosts Kolibri in Kuršumlija in the ninth round of the Serbian First League championship. Polet’s women are sixth in the standings with 12 points and will travel to face Kolubara in Lazarevac in the next round.

Sivac’s handball players were the standouts last weekend, recording their seventh consecutive win in the First League championship. Sivac 69 beat Radnički from Šid 35:17 in front of their own fans in Crvenka. The result speaks for itself about Sivac’s convincing performance. Marko Čabaj was Sivac’s top scorer, with 14 goals. Sivac 69 lead the table with 14 points, and travel to Mladost in Vršac in the next round.

Crvenka’s handball women also celebrated a win. In the seventh round of the First League championship, Laki beat Sombor’s Ravangrad 24:16 in front of their home fans, even though the visitors won the first half 11:9. In the second half, the young Crvenka players allowed the visitors to score just five goals while scoring fifteen themselves, securing a convincing victory. Dragana Radulović was Laki’s top scorer, with 9 goals. Laki are ninth in the standings with 5 points and will travel to face Halas József in Ada in the next round.

While the women’s team brought joy, Crvenka’s handball men disappointed, losing 24:23 to Jedinstvo from Novi Bečej in front of their home fans in the sixth round of the Super B League championship. In the final minute, Crvenka’s handball players had a chance to win, but Egić missed, and the visitors scored on the counterattack literally in the final seconds to claim victory. After this defeat, Crvenka’s handball team are eleventh in the standings with 3 points and will travel to face Loznica in the next round.
