Crvenka’s handball players were the only one of our three representatives in the First League to win in the 17 round of the championship. Despite being without injured players Dragiša Račić and Miloš Ivić, Crvenka won in front of their fans, beating Jabuka 31:28, although the visitors had taken the first half 15:13. In the second half, captain Dušan Mirić came into his own, scoring 11 goals; Crvenka’s defense tightened up, and goalkeeper Pavićević saved several one-on-one chances, which was enough to secure the win.
Our other men’s First League representative, Sivac 69, lost 33:31 at home in Crvenka to Banatski Karlovac, although Sivac had finished the first half ahead 17:12. Sivac’s handball players took a six-goal lead early in the second half, but then simply stopped playing—whether due to fatigue or a lack of concentration—allowing the visitors to take advantage and win. It is a shame, as the points were crucial for Sivac’s fight to avoid relegation, and after this defeat their chances are dwindling. Kalić was Sivac’s top scorer with 10 goals. After this round, Crvenka are second in the table with 24 points, while Sivac are eleventh with 9. In the next round, Crvenka visit bottom-placed Mladost in Vršac, while Sivac visit league leaders Kikinda.
Our representative in the women’s First League, Laki, lost 24:21 in Petrovaradin after five consecutive spring wins; the halftime score was 13:13. The young Crvenka handball players had a two-goal lead in the 50 minute, leading 21:19, but failed to score in the final ten minutes, conceded five goals and lost. Lovre, with 8, and Sukur, with 7 goals, were Laki’s top scorers. Laki are currently fifth in the table with 20 points, and will host Srem from Sremska Mitrovica in the next round.
In the municipal derby of the 20 round of the Sombor District League, Hajduk Junior defeated Polet from Sivac 5:2 in Kula. Simply put, Kula have the stronger team. Furtula, Draganić, Vujmilović, Marić and Kuzmanović from the penalty spot scored for Hajduk Junior, while Romić and Čvokić scored for Polet. Rusin from Ruski Krstur caused an unpleasant surprise, losing 2:1 away to bottom-placed Borac in Bački Gračac. Branković scored for Rusin. Mladost from Kruščić lost 3:0 away to Stari Grad in Bačka Palanka, while Lipar lost 2:1 to Hercegovac in Gajdobra. Rusin are fourth in the table with 32 points, Hajduk Junior are fifth with 31, Mladost are thirteenth with 23, Lipar are fourteenth with 18, and Polet are bottom, in sixteenth place, with 12 points. In the next round, Hajduk Junior visit ŽAK in Sombor, Rusin host Budućnost from Mladenovo in Ruski Krstur, Lipar host Stari Grad from Bačka Palanka, and Mladost host Terekveš from Svilojevo. Our fifth representative, Polet from Sivac, visit OFK Šikara in Sombor.
In round 15 of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division, Kula lost 3:1 away to the home side in Aleksa Šantić. Crvenka’s footballers were supposed to visit Omladinac in Deronje yesterday, but the match was postponed following the death of a former Omladinac player and will be played on Wednesday. After yesterday’s matches, Crvenka is second in the standings with 30 points and a game in hand, while Kula is fourth with 20 points. In the next, 16 round, Crvenka hosts Omladinac from Bukovac, while Kula hosts Hajduk from Stapar.
In the 14 round of the championship in the Sombor Intermunicipal League Second Division, Kulski Football Club (KFK) defeated Metalac from Sombor 3:0 in front of their fans. Kužić, Ćosović and Cetенji scored for KFK. KFK are currently fifth in the table with 21 point, and will visit league leaders Partizan in Kupusina in the next round.
In round 14 of the Serbian Second Futsal League, Vojvodina Group, Hajduk Futsal Club lost 4:3 at home in Kula to league leaders Internacional from Novi Sad. Hajduk’s futsal players played a good match, but their strong opponents and a lack of sporting luck stood in the way of a better result. Radović scored two goals for Hajduk, and Ćetković scored one. Hajduk Futsal Club is currently seventh with 11 points and will visit bottom-of-the-table APA Futsal in Apatin in the next round.
Bowler Velimir Joković and female bowler Nevenka Joković have qualified among the top 16, securing places in the final tournament to be held tomorrow and Sunday. Both the men’s and women’s competitions are being held in the mixed 1x120-throw discipline, with matches played using the set system. The results from the first two appearances are added together to determine the combined standings, and the four competitors who qualify for the semifinals and final will compete in those rounds on Sunday. The men’s second and third appearances will take place in Belgrade, while the women will compete in Bačka Topola. The final throws for both categories are scheduled to take place at Banja Junaković. Velimir Joković, who represents Hajduk Bowling Club from Kula, will face Milan Jovetić, representing Kordun Bowling Club from Kljajićevo, in his first match, while Nevenka Joković of Alimenza Bowling Club from Novi Sad will face Milica Šović from the Vojvodina Sports and Business Center in Novi Sad. Competitors from our municipality have achieved excellent career results: Nevenka Joković has won the Vojvodina and Serbian titles and reached the quarterfinals at the World Championship in Austria in 2010, while Velimir Joković was Montenegro’s bowling champion in 2015 and Serbian champion in the mixed competition in 2011. In view of these achievements, their chances of placing even higher at the upcoming final tournament are very real.
