Crvenka’s handball team lost to Partizan 34:25 in round five of the Serbian ARKUS Super League, away in Belgrade; the halftime score was 15:10. Ahead of the match, Crvenka strengthened its squad with two former players, goalkeeper Vitas and pivot Karanović. In the first half, Vladimir Zejak’s team held their own against Partizan, who had the lead, but Crvenka’s handballers stayed close. In the 19 minute, the score was 11:9 in Partizan’s favor, and Crvenka had a chance to cut the deficit to just one goal. However, Crvenka failed to score in the following ten minutes, and Partizan went into the break five goals ahead. Crvenka’s handballers hit a rough patch in the second half between the 36 and 46 minutes, conceding five goals and scoring only one, making a heavy defeat inevitable. Mitrović was Crvenka’s top scorer with 8 goals. Crvenka are last, without a point, and next round they host Proleter from Zrenjanin.
Sivac’s handball players also disappointed. Sivac 69 hosted Smederevo in the fourth round of the Serbian Super B League, determined to record their second league win at home. The teams traded goals for the first ten minutes or so, after which, from the score of 5:5, the visitors went on a 3:0 run and went into the break three goals ahead. The score was 14:11 in favor of Smederevo. In the second half, Sivac’s handball players managed to erase the deficit and take a 20:19 lead in the 44 minute, but then several technical errors followed. The experienced visitors punished them, built a two-goal lead and took the points from Sivac. The final score was 27:25 in favor of Smederevo. It should also be noted that Sivac coach Branko Zezelj was absent because of minor health problems. Beslac was Sivac’s top scorer, with 8 goals. Sivac 69 are eighth in the table with 3 points, and in the next round they will visit bottom-placed Morava in Velika Plana.
In the third round of the First Women’s League, the young Crvenka team Laki visited Ruma, where they lost 25:21 to hosts Sloven, with the halftime score 13:6. The hosts lived up to their favorites’ status and at times held a double-digit lead, but Laki’s young handball players showed character, never gave up, and a scoring run made the defeat more respectable. Laki’s top scorers were Anželi Lovre and Ana Ćuić, with 6 goals each. With two defeats and a game in hand, Laki are at the bottom of the table, and in the fourth round they will visit Ruma.
In round 15 of the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group, Hajduk visited Bečej and lost 1:0 to Bečej, with the halftime score 0:0. The Kula team played in Bečej without several key players: captain Vuković and regular first-team players Matijević and Kostić. This undoubtedly affected Hajduk’s play, which was good in the field but posed no threat to Bečej’s goal. Matijević and Kostić usually “fed” top scorer Furtula with their passes, but that was missing against Bečej. Hajduk are fourteenth in the standings with 18 points, and will host Jedinstvo of Stara Pazova in the next round.
Crvenka’s footballers visited Bajša in their round 13 match in the North Group of the Vojvodina League and lost 8:0 to the hosts. The score itself speaks most clearly to the balance of play on the pitch, and any further comment is unnecessary. Bajša were favorites even before the match, as they are near the top of the table, but Crvenka were expected to put up at least a respectable fight. Following this disaster, Crvenka are fifteenth in the standings with 12 points, and will host bottom-placed Vojvodina of Tovariševo in the next round.
In round 14 of the Sombor District League championship, Rusin’s footballers achieved the expected victory. Playing at home in Ruski Krstur, Rusin defeated Tvrđava of Bač 3:1. Rusin’s goals were scored by Rac, Đukanović and Danojević. Danojević’s goal in the 90th minute was particularly impressive: from a free kick 17 meters out, he sent the ball over the visitors’ wall and into the top-left corner. Rusin are currently fourth in the standings with 29 points, and will visit Budućnost in Mladenovo in the next round.
The eleventh round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division was marked by a municipal derby played at Geder in Kula, where Kula faced Lipar. Lipar won 5:1. One reason for Kula’s defeat, in addition to Lipar’s excellent performance, may have been that Kula played without the injured Zaric, Djodjic and Mitric, as well as the suspended Bodis. Kovac scored twice for Lipar, while Djukic, Banovic and Lazic scored one each. Zlatich scored Kula’s consolation goal. Sivac’s Polet visited Odzaci, where they lost 3:1 in their match against OFK Odzaci. The Sivac players took the lead in the 70 minute through Romic, who scored from a correctly awarded penalty. They also had a player advantage, but completely stopped playing after taking the lead, which Odzaci took advantage of to win. Our fourth representative, Mladost, lost 2:1 to Terekves from Svilajevo in Kruscic. Grdinic scored Mladost’s goal. After this round, Lipar are second in the table with 27 points, Polet are third with 21, Kula are sixth with 19, and Mladost are bottom with minus two points. In the twelfth round, Lipar will host Aleksa Santic, Kula will visit Terekves in Svilajevo, Mladost will visit Omladinac in Deronje, and Sivac’s Polet have a bye.
Hajduk’s futsal players drew with Subotica’s Spartak at home in Kula in the 7 round of the Vojvodina Futsal League. The score was 4:4, with the halftime score at 3:3. This was the third consecutive match in which Hajduk’s futsal players avoided defeat. Bogicevic, Delic, Isakov and Sinka scored for Hajduk. After this draw, Hajduk are fifth in the table with 7 points, and will host Letece Bajmocane in the next round.
In the fifth round of the First Serbian League, Hajduk’s basketball team hosted Futog and recorded their third win, defeating the visitors from Futog 82:74. Danilo Borović’s side had a poor first half, as evidenced by the fact that the visitors led by eleven points after the first quarter and were ahead 43:40 at halftime. However, Hajduk played a superb third quarter, led by Player of the Match Jovan Bajić, winning it 29:12. They then saw out the game at a more comfortable pace to secure the win. Hajduk’s top scorers were Jokanović with 19 points, including four three-pointers, Škrbić with 18, and Bajić with 16 points. Hajduk are currently third with three wins and two losses, and next round they travel to Novi Sad to face I Came to Play.
In the fifth round of the Second Serbian Basketball League, Sivac’s basketball players lost 87:65 to hosts Beocin away from home. Sivac kept pace with the hosts in the first half, which Beocin won 46:38, but Sivac ran out of steam in the second half, which was reflected in the final score. With one win and four defeats, Sivac’s basketball players are sixth in the table, and will host league leaders Akademik from Srbobran in the next round.
After winning their first two matches, Hajduk’s volleyball players recorded a third victory in the third round of the First Vojvodina League, winning a local derby against Vrbas played in Vrbas. They beat Vrbas 3:0. The Vrbas players put up their strongest resistance in the first set, which Hajduk won 25:22. Hajduk won the second set convincingly, 25:13, then took the third set 25:21. With a clean sweep and 9 points, they lead the league table. In the next round, Hajduk will host Mladost from Turija.
