Sports results

The results of the past sports weekend were marked by Sivac's handball players, who continued their winning streak, and Crvenka, who recorded their first victory.

In the fourth round of the Super B League, Crvenka’s handball team beat Jugović from Kać 23:22 in a Vojvodina derby played in front of their home fans, with the halftime score 11:11. It was a hard-fought match full of suspense, and Crvenka’s own players were to blame, as they made mistakes when it was time to take control. In the first half, Crvenka led by three goals in the 20 minute, with the score at 11:8. They had two chances to go four goals ahead, but numerous errors meant they failed to score in the final ten minutes of the half, allowing the visitors to equalize. The teams traded goals in the second half, until young Branko Predović scored the winner in the 60 minute. Crvenka captain Ivić was the team’s top scorer, with 6 goals. Crvenka is tenth in the standings with 2 points, and travels to Voždovac in Belgrade in the next round.

First League side Sivac 69 recorded their fourth win. In the fourth round of the championship, Sivac traveled to Dolovo and, in a convincing performance, defeated Dolovo 28:17. Branko Žeželj’s team showed their quality in the first half, taking a five-goal lead and ending the half 14:9. They stepped up their game even more in the second half and won by eleven goals, which speaks volumes about the difference in quality between the sides. Marko Čabaj was Sivac’s top scorer with 8 goals, while center back Čedomir Milojević also scored 5. Sivac 69 are top of the table with 8 points, and will host Banatski Karlovac in the next round.

Our other first-division handball team, Laki from Crvenka, also played away in the fourth round, facing the team of the same name in Dolovo. They drew 31:31, despite leading 19:17 at halftime. However, the young Crvenka handball players faltered in the second half, and the home team led by three goals in the 50 minute. In the closing stages, though, they found the strength to earn a point. Dragana Dimitrić was Laki’s top scorer, with 11 goals. Laki is currently ninth in the standings with 3 points, and hosts Proleter from Zrenjanin in the next round.

Vojvodina League leaders Hajduk 1912 drew 1:1 with hosts Crvena zvezda in Novi Sad in the tenth round of the championship, ending their run of eight consecutive wins. The goal in Novi Sad was the first Hajduk had conceded so far this season. Kula’s net was breached at the very end of the first half. Kula were the better side in the second half and equalized through Ivković. Hajduk scored another goal, by Tutnjević, but the referees disallowed it for reasons known only to them. After ten rounds, Hajduk 1912 remain top of the table with 26 points, and will host Dunav from Stari Banovci in Kula in the next round, scheduled for Wednesday.

Crvenka's footballers drew 1:1 away to bottom-placed BSK in Bački Brestovac in the 9. round of the Vojvodina League, North group. Crvenka dominated completely in the first half and created numerous chances, but only one was converted into a goal, by Šakić in the 17 minute, giving them the lead. As the unwritten rule goes, Crvenka paid for its missed chances in the second half, and BSK equalised. Crvenka are twelfth in the table with 9 points, and host Radnički from Sombor in the next round.

Of the four teams from our municipality competing in the Sombor District League, only Rusin won in the 9th round of the championship. Krstur defeated OFK Odžaci 3:0 on home soil. Lipar drew 1:1 with Slavija from Pivnice in front of their home fans, while Polet disappointed with a 3:2 home loss to Hercegovac from Gajdobra, as did Kula, who lost 4:1 away to Kulpin. Rusin are third in the table with 17 points, Kula are seventh with 14, Lipar are fourteenth with 8, and Polet are fifteenth with 3 points. In the next round, Kula will host Vojvodina from Tovariševo, Polet will host Kulpin, Lipar will visit Obrovac to face Borac, and Rusin will face ŽAK in Sombor.

In round seven of the first division of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, Mladost from Kruščić visited Stapar. The home team, Hajduk, were leading 5:0 in the 45th minute when the match was abandoned because Mladost were left with too few players on the field. Kruščić’s team are bottom of the table with 3 points, and will host Terekveš from Svilojevo in the next round.

Polet’s women footballers from Sivac lost 9:0 to hosts Zemun in the sixth round of the Serbian First League championship. The Sivac team are currently fifth in the table with 9 points, and will host Karađorđe from Topola in the next round.

In the third round of the Vojvodina Futsal League, Hajduk Futsal Club lost 8:4 away to Novi Sad. Without a point, Hajduk Futsal Club is at the bottom of the standings, and hosts league leaders APA Futsal from Apatin in the next round.
