The Easter holidays, as far as sports news is concerned, were marked by a First League handball derby. Last night in Crvenka, in the match of the 15 round of the First League championship, second-placed Sivac 69 and league leaders Lavovi from Bačka Palanka faced off. In a superb atmosphere, in front of more than a thousand spectators, the derby ended in a draw 20:20. Sivac 69 finished the first half with a two-goal lead—the score was 10:8—and in the second half also had a three-goal advantage 16:13 in the 47 minute, but several mistakes followed, which the experienced visitors took advantage of to level the score. The Sivac players had the last attack; Slavuljica took a shot, and a Lavovi player defended from the goal area, but the referees did not judge it to be a penalty, so the derby ended without a winner. Beslać was Sivac’s top scorer with 5 goals. Sivac 69 remain second in the standings with 22 points, and in the next round they visit Mladost in Vršac.

Odžaci of Kula, members of the Serbian League Vojvodina group, drew 0:0 with Radnički from Sremska Mitrovica in the 19. round of the league, playing in front of their fans at the Milan Sredanović Stadium. The experienced visiting team successfully “shut down” Kula’s midfield, preventing young Juhik and Šakić from showing their creativity. As a result, striker Matijašević had no useful balls, and Željko Račić’s side ultimately had to settle for a point. Odžaci are seventh in the table with 30 points, and next round they visit Bačka 1901 in Subotica.

The local derby highlighted the twentieth round of the Sombor District League. Kula and Lipar faced off at the Geder ground in Kula. The match ended in a 1:1 draw. Lipar took the lead through Vorkapić, but Filip Vujović equalized midway through the second half to earn his team a point. Second-placed Crvenka lost 3:1 away to Stari Grad in Bačka Palanka, with the halftime score at 1:1. Crvenka fielded the team without five regular players—brothers Radmanović, Kerekeš, Vladan Vujović and Radojičić—yet created numerous chances that went unfinished, and the missed opportunities led to the defeat. Kišjuhas scored for Crvenka. Mladost lost 2:0 to Krila Krajine from Bačka Palanka in Kruščić. Rusin from Ruski Krstur had a bye this round. Crvenka remain second in the standings with 41 points, Lipar are eighth with 24, Kula eleventh with 18, Rusin thirteenth with 14, and Mladost are last with 8 points. The next round features a major derby, as second-placed Crvenka host leaders Stanišić. Lipar visit Vojvodina in Tovariševo, Kula visit Budućnost in Parage, Rusin travel to Bačka Palanka to face Krila Krajine, while Mladost from Kruščić visit ŽAK in Sombor.

The derby in the fifteenth round of the Sombor Municipal League, First Division, played in Sivac between second-placed Polet and league leaders Radnički from Ratkovo, ended in a draw 1:1. The home team took the lead through Stefan Komazec, but the visitors equalized late in the first half. In the second half, from the 50 minute onward, Polet were down to ten men after Bosnić received a red card. Despite this, the Sivac players had several good chances to win, but failed to convert them because of their own haste and some poor refereeing decisions. Polet are second in the standings with 33 points, and visit Aleksa Šantić in the next round.

Kula Football Club (KFK) recorded a valuable win. In the 12 round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League Second Division championship, Kula defeated Terekveš from Svilojevo 3:1 in front of their supporters at the Geder field. Stojanov, Čiča and Gačević scored for KFK. KFK are third in the standings with 20 points, and will visit OFK Metalac in Sombor in the next round.

Hajduk’s basketball players lost to Futog Tupanjac 87:80 away in Futog in the 24 round of the First Serbian League championship, with the halftime score at 45:39. After a good first quarter, which Hajduk won 26:21, the home team won the second period 24:13, took a six-point lead, and managed to preserve it in the second half and win. Hajduk’s basketball players are ninth in the standings with 10 wins and 14 losses, and will host Srem from Sremska Mitrovica in the next round.

In the 24 round of the Second Serbian League championship, both of our basketball teams were defeated. Sivac’s basketball players caused an unpleasant surprise, losing 101:94 at home to Velika Kikinda. Crvenka’s basketball players lost 117:53 away to Petrovgad in Zrenjanin. Sivac’s players are third in the standings with 20 wins and four losses, while Crvenka are thirteenth with 3 wins and 21 loss. In the next round, Sivac will visit Bagljaš in Zrenjanin, while Crvenka will visit Spartak OKK in Subotica.
