Sports roundup

In the 4 round of the Serbian Super League, Crvenka’s handball players lost 37:28 at home to Kikinda, with the halftime score 19:14 in Kikinda’s favor. The result speaks for itself: a dominant performance by the experienced Kikinda side and a thoroughly deserved win. Kikinda had already built a five-goal lead by the 12 minute and calmly saw the match through, while the young Crvenka team lacked the strength and showed too little desire to make the match more interesting. Bošković was Crvenka’s top scorer with 7, while captain Radonjić and Račić scored five goals each. Next round, Crvenka’s handball players travel to Belgrade to face Partizan.

In the third round of the Super B League championship, Sivac 69 visited Belgrade and drew 27:27 with Voždovac. Sivac were the better side, taking the first half 16:14. Although they lost reliable goalkeeper Bogojević early in the second half after he was disqualified, Pavle Potpara replaced him excellently, and Branko Žeželj's team had a four-goal lead in the 54 minute, going ahead 27:23. However, after that goal by Slavuljica, Sivac's handball players failed to score again, while conceding four goals, and had to settle for a point. Slavuljica and Beslać were Sivac's top scorers, with six goals each. Sivac 69 are currently eighth in the standings with 3 points, and will host Smederevo, who have a maximum 6 points, in the next round.

The women's First League handball championship has also begun. Laki hosted Halas Jožef from Ada in Crvenka and recorded a convincing defeat, 33:15, with the halftime score 16:5 in favor of the team from Ada. Even before the match, it had been pointed out that Halas Jožef is the best team in the league, which the visitors confirmed with a confident and convincing performance. It should also be borne in mind that the home team, Laki, played without its best player, Milana Jovović, which, along with the visitors' undeniable quality, was another reason for Laki's convincing defeat. Nikolina Bulatović and Jovana Mišković scored three goals each for Laki. In the next round, the young handball players from Crvenka will visit Sloven in Ruma.

Hajduk’s footballers drew 1:1 with Radnički from Zrenjanin at home in the 14 round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina group. Hajduk took the lead in the 28 minute with a free-kick goal by Matijević and held on to that advantage until stoppage time. Just when it looked as though all three points would stay with Hajduk, the captain Vuković reacted awkwardly to a harmless cross from the visitors and practically set up a chance for their striker, who took it and equalized at 1:1. Hajduk are currently thirteenth in the table with 18 points, and next round they travel to Bečej.

Crvenka's footballers also came away with just one point instead of the planned three. In the 12 round of the Vojvodina League, North Group championship, Crvenka hosted Hercegovac from Gajdobra. The match ended in a 1:1 draw. Crvenka took the lead in the third minute with a goal from Babić and held it until halftime. However, the visitors dominated in the second half and capped that dominance with an equalizer. Crvenka are currently thirteenth in the standings with 12 points, and will visit Bajša in the next round.

Rusino’s footballers from Ruski Krstur also earned a point last weekend. In the 13 round of the Sombor District League, Rusin visited Bački Brestovac, where they drew 1:1 with BSK. The Krstur side took the lead with a goal by the experienced Đukanović, but in the 85 minute, after a corner and a scramble in Rusin’s six-yard box, the home team managed to score and earn a point. Rusin are currently fourth with 26 points, and next round they host Tvrđava from Bač in Ruski Krstur.

The tenth round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division, was marked by a municipal derby played in Lipar, where Lipar convincingly defeated Mladost from Kruščić 6:0. Banović, Lalić, Đukić, Popović, Janjić and Tutić scored for Lipar. Polet's players also scored six goals, defeating Aleksa Šantić 6:1 in Sivac. The visitors scored on their only foray into the opposition half, taking the lead in the first half and going into the break ahead. However, Sivac's quality came through in the second half, and with two goals each from experienced players Romić and Furtula and one apiece from Đukić and Varga, Polet recorded the expected victory. Kula, our fourth representative at this level of competition, visited league leaders Bratstvo in Prigrevica. The first half ended goalless, despite the home side's brutal play, and Kula coach Zoran Veselinović had to make all the permitted substitutions in the first half because of player injuries. However, when the highly biased referee Bečanović showed Bodiš two yellow cards in the 51 minute within 60 seconds of one another, leaving Kula with ten players, the home side took advantage and won 6:0. The most vivid evidence of what Kula's players endured in Prigrevica is that Mitrić, Đođić and Žarić ended up in hospital. Mitrić suffered a cut to his eyebrow, Đođić broke his collarbone, and Žarić dislocated his shoulder. After this round, Lipar are second in the standings with 24 points, Polet third with 21 and a game in hand, Kula fourth with 19, and Mladost are bottom with minus two points. In the next, 11 round, there will be another municipal derby: Kula and Lipar will meet in Kula, Sivac's Polet will visit OFK Odžaci, and Mladost will host Terekveš from Svilajevo in Kruščić.

Hajduk’s basketball players lost 98:74 to Joker in Sombor, with the halftime score 52:41, in the 4 round of the First Serbian League. According to Hajduk basketball coach Danilo Borović, his team’s defeat was caused by numerous mistakes, as well as catastrophic three-point shooting: the players from Kula made only two of 26 attempts. Hajduk are currently third in the table with a record of two wins and two losses, and they will have a chance to make amends for the defeat in Sombor next round, when they host Futog in Kula.

In the 4 round of the Second Serbian League championship, Sivac's basketball players lost to Senta 64:58 at home in Sivac, despite winning the first half 41:37. The final quarter proved decisive, with Senta's basketball players winning it 17:10. Sivac are sixth in the standings with one win and three defeats, and will visit Beočin in the next round.

In the second round of the First Vojvodina League championship, Hajduk's volleyball players hosted Maglić and secured their second convincing victory. Maglić were defeated by the maximum 3:0, with set scores of 25:14, 25:19 and 25:12. With six points earned, Hajduk lead the Vojvodina League standings, and in the next round they will face Vrbas in a local derby in Vrbas.
