Our football teams have made a successful start to the new season. Of the seven teams, as many as five won their opening matches, one drew and only one lost. The results are all the more significant given that only two of the seven played their opening matches at home. But let’s take it in order.
In the first round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina group, Hajduk’s footballers played away in Stanišić and recorded a 1:0 victory. According to Hajduk coach Željko Račić, he was not satisfied with his players’ performance in the first half, when they played tensely and too cautiously. Their performance was considerably better in the second half, and the reward for their improved play was the winning goal, scored in the 57 minute by newcomer Milenko Babić, who had joined from Crvenka. The Kula team had chances to score another goal or two and comfortably see out the match, but a narrow win is sweet too. Next round, Hajduk 1912 host Omladinac from Novi Banovci in front of their fans.
In the opening matches of the Sombor District League, clubs from the municipality of Kula recorded two wins and a draw.
Crvenka footballers opened the season with a 1:0 away win over Kordun in Kljajićevo. Significantly stronger than last season following the arrivals of Radmanović, Faćol, Zelić, Petrić and Ivić, coach Goran Šušilović’s team secured the win in Kljajićevo with a goal by Filip Faćol, who beat the Kordun goalkeeper with a free kick in the 76 minute to earn Crvenka the victory. Lipar also delighted their fans, beating Tvrđava 3:2 away in Bač, after trailing 2:1 at half-time. Led by coach and player Marko Đorović and the experienced Ćovin, Lipar came from behind twice, showing character to secure the win in the end. Jovanović, Ćovin and Marko Lalić, with a goal in the dying moments of the match, scored Lipar’s goals in Bač. Our third representative in the Sombor District League, Rusin, drew 1:1 at home in Ruski Krstur against Budućnost from Gložan. All the action came in the first fifteen minutes or so. The visitors took the lead in the tenth minute, but Dejan Čarnok equalised in the fourteenth, which was also the final score. In the second round of the Sombor District League, Rusin are at home again, welcoming Soko from Nova Gajdobra; Crvenka host ŽAK from Sombor, while Lipar travel to Gložan to face Budućnost.
In the first round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division, the footballers of Mladost from Kruščić pleasantly surprised everyone by beating the visiting Radnički team from Sombor 2:1. Grdinić and Šuman scored for Mladost, and it should be noted that Kruščić could have won by a larger margin, as young Kilić failed to convert a penalty. Kula beat OFK Odžaci 2:0 at the Geder stadium, with Civrić and Davidović scoring for Kula. The only team to make an unsuccessful start to the season was Sivac’s Polet, who lost to Dinamo 4:2 away in Bački Breg. Vuković and Vukašinović scored for Polet. In the second round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division, Mladost host Dinamo from Bački Breg in Kruščić, Polet host Zadrugar from Srpski Miletić in Sivac, and Kula travel to play Omladinac in Deronje.
