In round 29 of the Serbian League Vojvodina, “Hajduk 1912” lost at home to “Kabel” by 2:3. Matiјašević and Brborić scored for the “Whites,” and in the final round they travel to face “Tisa” in Adorjan. “Hajduk” is tenth in the table with 35 points. Hajduk coach Željko Račić said that “Kabel” is an excellent team and deservedly took all three points:
“This was a match against a really good team. They are all young players who came up through ‘Vojvodina’, plus a couple of experienced players, and overall they make a good, quality team. I have to admit that, in my opinion, although we took the lead and had spells of good play, ‘Kabel’ were the better and stronger side and deserved to win. We have some problems of our own and are dealing with them. We can hardly wait for the end of the season so we can take stock and sum up everything that has been done and achieved.”
The Sombor District League is nearing its conclusion, and in round 29, teams from the Municipality of Kula recorded two wins and one loss. Crvenka beat Soko from Nova Gajdobra 3:2 at home, with Babić scoring twice and Končar also finding the net. Rusin lost 4:1 to Polet in Karavukovo, with Sajanković scoring their only goal. There was a goal fest in Lipar, where the home team beat ČSK Pivara 6:4. Lipar’s scorers were Ćovin, who scored as many as four goals, Đorović and Jovanović. In the standings, Rusin are second with 63 points, Crvenka are third, one point behind, while Lipar are fifth with 45 points.
In the division below, in the Sombor Inter-Municipal League – 1 grade, the title went to “Geder.” “Kula” made the most of its match point in the game against “Mladost” from Kruščić, winning 5:1 with goals from Licenberger, who scored twice, Vojnović and Romić, plus an own goal by the visitors. Popović scored the only goal for the Kruščić side. “Kula” coach Slobodan Kukolj thanked the crowd for their tremendous support throughout the season and said this was a huge success for everyone who has “Kula” in their heart:
“What can I say? I’m overjoyed, just like all these guys. We’re going to the District League to show that we can compete at that level too and, thank God, after years of all sorts of things, ‘Kula’ is where it belongs. Thanks to this crowd for supporting us throughout the season. I have to admit, I was left speechless both here and in Sivac, where 300-400 people from Kula came to cheer us on. We owe it to them to fight uncompromisingly for every point in the higher division too.”
As for the third representative from the Municipality of Kula, Sivac’s Polet lost 1:0 to Radnički from Sombor. The Intermunicipal League season has come to an end, with the final standings as follows: Kula are champions with 62 points, Polet are fourth with 54 points, while Mladost from Kruščić are eleventh with 28 points.
Handball news: “Crvenka” won the second match of the playoff for third place against “Smederevo” by 33:31. Ivić, with nine goals, and Šveljo, with eight, were the most successful for the “Squirrels.” Speaking about the match, Crvenka coach Zoran Lovre said it had little significance for the standings and that the match in Ub had determined the entire subsequent course of events:
“As for this match, it was the last one of the season, and we played it simply to fulfil the fixture and for the statistics. The greatest regret is the loss in Ub, where we led throughout the match and ultimately lost on penalties. That was our biggest defeat this year. The way this match went showed that no one was moving up or down the standings; it was played simply to complete the fixture.”
