Crvenka’s handball players ended their campaign in Group A of the Serbian ARKUS Super League with a win

Crvenka’s handball players ended their campaign in Group A of the Serbian ARKUS Super League with a win, defeating Dubočica from Leskovac 28:26 at home in the 14 round, with a halftime score of 19:13. The result says it all: Crvenka put in an excellent defensive performance in the first half, scoring easy goals from fast breaks and secondary breaks, and after 30 minutes held a commanding six-goal lead. Having maintained that six-goal advantage through the first ten minutes or so of the second half, Crvenka’s handball players thought the match was decided. This was followed by a period of 12 minutes without a goal, which Dubočica’s players took advantage of to cut the deficit to just three. But they could get no closer, thwarted by Crvenka goalkeeper Karavezić, who saved a seven-metre throw and a couple of clear chances, allowing Crvenka to claim the points with a routine performance. Crvenka’s most effective and best player was Vuk Perović, who scored 8 goals; young Tasić also had a productive game, scoring six times. Crvenka finished the Group A campaign in the Serbian ARKUS Super League bottom of the standings with 6 points, and will carry 4 points earned against Kikinda and Proleter from Zrenjanin into the relegation playoff, as points won against Dubočica do not carry over because the Leskovac team qualified for the playoff. Crvenka travel to Novi Pazar for their first relegation playoff match.

Hajduk’s basketball players recorded a win away to Futog in the opening round of the second half of the First Serbian League season. In the 12 round of the championship, Hajduk defeated hosts Futog 67:66, with a halftime score of 36:32 in Hajduk’s favor. Hajduk coach Danilo Borović was pleased with the narrow win, noting that such a match had been expected and that the long break since their last game had affected his players’ performance. Their poor shooting percentage was offset by good, aggressive defense, and with better concentration in the closing stages, Hajduk’s basketball players nevertheless recorded a win. Marinković was Hajduk’s top scorer with 15 points, followed by Tešović, Bajić and Škrbić with 11 points each. Young Kuveljić also put in a notable performance and made a significant contribution to the win. With 8 wins and 4 losses, Hajduk’s basketball players are third in the standings. In the next round, the team from Kula will host I Came to Play from Novi Sad. Having secured a place in the playoffs, the upcoming game has no competitive significance, offering younger players a chance to play.

Over the past weekend, football clubs used friendly matches to assess their progress during the preparation period. Serbian League side Hajduk hosted Vojvodina League side Tekstilac from Odžaci, and the match ended in a 1:1 draw. Hajduk were considerably better in the first half, creating a couple of chances to take the lead and missing a penalty, but in the second half, after changes to the starting lineup, the visitors from Odžaci punished a defensive error by Hajduk and took the lead through Galić. However, right at the end of the match, Šušnjar managed to score the equalizer. Hajduk’s next fitness test will be on Wednesday, when they visit Radnički 1912 from Sombor.

As part of their preparations for the second half of the season, Vojvodina League side Crvenka played away in Kruščić yesterday, defeating Mladost 4:0 in a friendly. Crvenka’s goals were scored by Bošković, Popović, Subotić and cadet Kilić. Crvenka’s footballers will play their next friendly on Wednesday, hosting Polet from Sivac. Crvenka’s opponents yesterday, Mladost, will host Lipar in Kruščić on Sunday.

Rusin, who compete in the district league, have also started playing friendly matches. Yesterday, Rusin hosted Njegoš from Lovćenac in Ruski Krstur. Njegoš won 3:0. Rusin will play their next friendly on Sunday, against Kula.

Lipar, members of the first division of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, played two matches over the past weekend. On Saturday in Kucura, they defeated Iskra 4:1. Lipar’s goals were scored by Gavrilo Popović, Avdalović, Lazić, and Tutić. Yesterday, Lipar hosted BSK from Bački Brestovac. Fatigue was evident among the Lipar players, which the visitors took advantage of, winning 1:0. Lipar’s next fitness test will be on Sunday against Mladost in Kruščić. Polet from Sivac, members of the first division of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, hosted Bratstvo from Prigrevica, the autumn champions of their league. The visitors from Prigrevica defeated Polet 5:2. Komazec and Romić scored for the Sivac side. On Wednesday, Polet will take on Crvenka in Crvenka, and on Sunday they will face Kordun in Kljajićevo. Kula, our fourth representative in the first division of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, visited Savino Selo yesterday, where they drew 1:1 with Budućnost. Stojanov scored for Kula. Next week, Kula will play a friendly against district-league side Rusin from Ruski Krstur.
