Crvenka handball players relegated to a lower division

Last weekend’s sports news was dominated by the end of the handball ARKUS Super League of Serbia play-out, after which Crvenka’s handball players were relegated.

Even before the final round of the play-out, it was clear that the “squirrels” had lost their place in the ARKUS Super League of Serbia, so the match against Šamot in Aranđelovac was merely a formality. Šamot recorded a 43:35 victory, with the halftime score 22:21. The 78 goals scored show that there was no defense. In the first half, Crvenka often led; in the 27 minute they were ahead 21:18, but then the home team went on a 6:0 run, took the lead and only extended it for the rest of the match. Crvenka played Šamot without several regular first-team players, and the top scorers against Šamot were Nikolić and Bošković, with 7 goals each. Crvenka finished the play-out in last place with 8 points and will compete in the Super B League next season.

Sivac’s handball players compete in the Super B League. In round 19, they won 28:26 away to hosts Inđija, with the halftime score 12:10 in Sivac’s favor. The first half was goal for goal, and after the score reached 9:9, Sivac’s handball players went on a run of 3:0 and went into the break with a two-goal lead. In the second half, coach Branko Žeželj’s team “stepped up the pace” and took a six-goal lead in the 50th minute—the score was 24:18—and it was then clear they would record a win. Sivac’s top scorer was Marko Čabai with 14 goals, while Sivac goalkeeper Marko Maksimović was named player of the match. Sivac 69 are currently fifth in the table with 20 points, and host Lavovi from Bačka Palanka in the next round.

In round 19 of the First League championship for women’s handball, Laki lost 34:23 to Temerin in Crvenka, with the halftime score 18:13 in favor of the visitors from Temerin. The score shows that Temerin outplayed the young Laki team in every aspect and deservedly won. Nikolína Zorić was Laki’s top scorer with 6 goals. Laki are currently ninth in the table with 6 points, and in the next round they will visit Jadran from Feketić.

Hajduk’s footballers defeated Bečej 4:3 at home in Kula in the 34th round of the Vojvodina group of the Serbian League. What stands out about the match is that all four goals for Hajduk were scored by young players, the so-called bonus players: Šušnjar, Muminović, Božović and Bogićević. Hajduk is currently twelfth in the standings with 48 points and will visit Jedinstvo in Stara Pazova in the next round.

In round 30 of the northern group of the Vojvodina League championship, Crvenka’s footballers lost 1:0 to Bačka on their home ground, significantly reducing their chances of retaining their place in the Vojvodina League for the rest of the season. Bačka were favorites even before the match, as they are the league’s second-placed team, and the visitors lived up to that billing. Crvenka had two excellent chances to take the lead in the first half, but Bešić and Babić were off target, and they were punished in the second half. Bačka player Šavija punished a defensive error by the home team and scored the winner. Crvenka are currently fifteenth in the table with 30 points, and will visit Vojvodina in Tovariševo in the next round.

Rusini from Ruski Krstur ended a run of nine matches without a win, beating BSK from Bački Brestovac 3:0 at home in the 30th round of the Sombor District League. The scorers were Kulić, Sajanković and Đukanović. Rusin is currently fourth in the standings with 46 points and will visit Tvrđava in Bač in the next round.

The twenty-third round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division, was marked by a municipal derby in Kruščić, where Mladost defeated Lipar 2:1, thereby earning important points in the fight to avoid relegation. Fekete and Vuković scored for Mladost. It should also be noted that, with Mladost leading 1:0, Fekete missed the chance to extend the lead from the penalty spot. Nikola Vuković scored for Lipar. Kula were defeated 6:0 by league leaders Bratstvo from Prigrevica at the Geder ground, while Sivac’s Polet lost 2:0 to hosts Aleksa Šantić in Aleksa Šantić. Lipar are second in the table with 52 points, Polet are fifth, and Kula sixth, each with 32; Mladost are eleventh with 16 points. Another municipal derby is coming up in the next round: Lipar and Kula will meet in Lipar, Polet host OFK Odžaci in Sivac, while Mladost travel to Svilojevo to face Terekveš.

Hajduk’s volleyball players achieved a very important win, beating league leaders Bečej 3:1 in sets at home in the derby of the tenth round of the Second Vojvodina League. The two best teams in the league put on an entertaining volleyball display. Hajduk won the first set 25:17. The second saw a dramatic finish, which Hajduk won 27:25. The visitors dominated the third set, winning it 25:14, but the fourth set was dramatic again. Hajduk’s players showed greater composure, winning the set 25:23 and thus avenging their defeat to Bečej in the first half of the season. Jovana Steljić deserves praise for her performance, recording 15 points alongside a steady reception, while setter Una Pješčić also stood out. Hajduk remain second in the table with 22 points, two behind Bečej, but with a game in hand, giving them a chance to take the lead with a win when they play it. In the next round, Hajduk’s volleyball players host “Elan Volley 2” from Srbobran.
