Weekend sports results

Both Hajduk’s footballers and Sivac’s handball players continued their winning streaks last weekend.

In round 13 of the Serbian League Vojvodina championship, Hajduk’s footballers beat Omladinac from Novi Banovci 1:0 in a derby played in front of their home supporters. The decisive goal was scored by Luka Jovanić. The victory is all the more significant given that Hajduk 1912 played this match without three regular first-team players: captain Davidov, as well as Veselinović and Tomović. Hajduk 1912 is top of the table with 35 points, and in the next round visits Kabel in Novi Sad.

In the sixth round of the First League championship, Sivac's handball players recorded their sixth win, away in Temerin. Sivac 69 defeated the home side, Mladost TSK, 26:25, with the first half ending 13:12 in Sivac's favor. Sivac made an excellent start, taking a 4:0 lead, and leading 8:4 in the fourteenth minute, but then let up, allowing the home side to close the gap to one goal. The teams traded goals for most of the second half, and in that kind of game Nenad Slavuljica's goal in the 59 minute secured the win for his team. Sivac's top scorers were Kalić with 8, Slavuljica with 7, and Čabai with 6 goals. Sivac 69 is top of the standings with 12 points, and will host Radnički from Šid in the next round.

Our other First League handball team, Laki from Crvenka, competing in the women's division, lost 20:19 away to Temerin in the sixth round of the championship. In the 46 minute, Temerin had a seven-goal lead and were ahead 19:12. Then came a powerful surge by Crvenka's young handball players, who scored seven goals and conceded just one, but did not have enough strength to complete the comeback. Laki's top scorer was Milica Rabrenović, with 6 goals. Laki are eighth in the table with 3 points, and will host Ravangrad from Sombor in Crvenka in the next round.

Football updates again.

In the eleventh round of the Vojvodina League, Northern Group, Crvenka’s footballers drew 0:0 with Tekstilac in Odžaci. Crvenka were considerably the better side and created many scoring chances, but once again their forwards failed to deliver. Furtula hit the crossbar, Jovan Subotić hit the post, and Crvenka believe that Manojlović’s goal was wrongly disallowed late in the match. All in all, they have reason to rue the result. Crvenka are ninth in the table with 13 points, and will play away against Mladost in Turija in the next round.

The eleventh round of the Sombor District League championship featured a local derby in Ruski Krstur, where hosts Rusin beat Kula 2:0. Holik and Veselinović scored for Rusin. Lipar lost 2:0 to league leaders Stari Grad from Bačka Palanka in front of their home supporters, while Polet from Sivac lost 1:0 away to hosts Vojvodina in Tovariševo. Rusin is third in the table with 20 points, Kula ninth with 14, Lipar fourteenth with 8, and Polet fifteenth with 6 points. In the next round, another local derby will be played in Sivac, where Polet will face Rusin from Ruski Krstur; Kula hosts Krila Krajine from Bačka Palanka, while Lipar visits bottom-placed OFK Odžaci.

In the ninth round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division championship, Mladost from Kruščić lost 6:0 to Kordun away in Kljajićevo. Mladost are eleventh in the table with 6 points, and will host the Partizan team from Kupusina in Kruščić in the next round.

Polet’s women’s footballers from Sivac were also unsuccessful. In the eighth round of the first-division championship, the Sivac team lost 3:0 to Rad from Belgrade in front of their supporters. Polet’s women’s footballers are fifth in the table with 12 points, and in the next round they visit Kolibri in Kuršumlija.

The decision was made in the final quarter, which Sloven won by 23:10. After this round, with one win and four losses, Hajduk are twelfth in the standings, and in the next round they travel to face Mladost Veternik.
