The past sports weekend was marked by a municipal Super League handball derby played in Sivac, as well as the start of the spring half of the championship for our football teams.
In round 13 of the Super B League handball championship, Crvenka’s handball players beat Sivac 69 21:20 in the local derby played in Sivac, avenging their defeat in the autumn part of the season. The derby lived up to expectations, with an exciting match in which the defenses were on form, as confirmed by the number of goals scored. Sivac’s handball players dominated the first half, led by an in-form Kalić, who converted seven of seven shots in that period, and coach Branko Žeželj’s players won the first half 16:9. The second half was a different story: in 30 minutes of play, Sivac’s players scored only 4 goals, while Crvenka scored twelve. From the 34 to the 55 minute, Sivac’s handball players scored only one goal, from a penalty, and defeat was inevitable. It should also be said that the hosts’ top scorer, Čabai, was injured midway through the first half, which may also explain their poor scoring in the second half. Sivac’s top scorers were Kalić with 8 and Milojević with 6 goals, while for Crvenka, captain Radonjić scored 5 goals and was named player of the match; young Nikolić and Predović scored 4 goals each. Sivac 69 is currently fifth, while Crvenka is sixth, each with 13 points. In the next round, Crvenka hosts league leaders Mačva from Bogatić, while Sivac visits Voždovac.
In the 16 round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina group, Hajduk lost 1:0 away to hosts Omladinac in Novi Banovci. Hajduk’s young side held out until the 75 minute, when the hosts managed to beat the excellent Drinčić and secure a win. Hajduk are currently fifteenth in the table with 11 points, and next round they travel to Subotica to face second-placed Bačka.
Crvenka’s footballers made a successful start to the spring season in the Vojvodina League. In front of their home fans, Crvenka defeated Tavankut 2:0, with both goals scored by the young Kerekeš. Crvenka are currently thirteenth in the standings with 16 points, and next round they travel to Bajša.
In the opening round of the spring half of the championship in the Sombor District League, Rusin from Ruski Krstur lost 2:1 away to Borac in Obrovac. All three goals were scored in the first half. The hosts led 2:0, with Dimitrije Šarac reducing the deficit right at the end of the first half. Krstur’s players were better in the second half but failed to score and were defeated. Rusin are currently fifth in the table with 29 points, and next round they host Budućnost from Parage.
Hajduk’s futsal players lost 5:4 to the Novi Sad team in round 13 of the Vojvodina Futsal League championship, in front of their home fans. It was a very exciting match. The first half ended 2:2, but in the second half Novi Sad’s futsal players were more skillful and also luckier: they took a 4:2 lead, Hajduk pulled one back, missed several clear chances and were punished for it. Kiš scored twice for Hajduk, while Slijepčević and Senčuk scored one each. Hajduk are fifth in the table with 9 points, and will play away against Fortuna in Futog in the next round.
Hajduk’s basketball players were successful. In the 17 round of the First Serbian League, Hajduk defeated third-place Sloboda from Novi Sad 105:95 on their home court, even though the visitors had won the first half 52:48. Hajduk played without their best and most experienced player, Jovan Bajić, but thanks to an excellent second-half performance, led by Blagojević, Marinković, and Lješević, they secured the win. With 10 wins and 7 losses, Hajduk are currently fifth in the standings, and in the next round they travel to face Jedinstvo in Novi Bečej.
