One hundred promising business ideas will have the opportunity to be implemented as part of the national “Start Up for Jobs” competition, thanks to the support of the “Phillip Morris” company. The seventh annual competition has just opened and will run until 29 February 2016.
This competition helps people with a viable, sustainable business idea start or improve their own small business, with the aim of reducing unemployment and encouraging people to venture into entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship is the main driver of economic progress in Europe and around the world, and is recognized as a key link in the recovery of Serbia’s economy, according to “Philip Morris.”
- The thousands of people who apply to our competition every year are the best indication that there is a great deal of entrepreneurial spirit in Serbia, but people need support and encouragement, said Jelena Preradović Stevanović of Philip Morris.
She said that a great deal of courage and belief in one’s own idea are needed, and that the program helps interested applicants obtain the necessary equipment and receive appropriate training and advisory support so they can prepare as well as possible for the fierce competition in the market.
- The fact that over the past six years, through the “Start Up Your Business” program, we have helped launch 490 small and family businesses, thereby providing employment for more than 1.500 people, and that all these businesses are still operating successfully, is the best encouragement for everyone wondering whether to apply for the competition, concluded Preradović Stevanović.
“Start Up for Jobs” is run by the non-governmental organisation Eneca, and the competition's significance and strong results over the past six years have secured the support of numerous partners. This year, too, the National Employment Service, as one of the key partners, will use its network of branches and offices to inform unemployed people and help them apply for the programme.
