In the 26 round of the Serbian League Vojvodina group, Hajduk’s footballers hosted Sloga from Čonoplja in Kula and recorded their most convincing win of the season. Sloga were beaten 6:0, although the first half ended goalless. The visitors’ strategy was clearly to bolster their defense and protect their goal, while trying to threaten Hajduk’s goal on the counterattack if the opportunity arose. They managed to withstand Hajduk’s attacks in the first half while they still had the strength. But when Miloš Manojlović broke the deadlock early in the second half, Sloga’s play completely fell apart, and the in-form Kula side punished them with five more goals. In addition to Manojlović, the scorers were Matijević, Branislav Manojlović, captain Vuković from the penalty spot, Macanović and Laćarak.
Hajduk are currently eleventh in the standings with 38 points, and next round they travel to Novi Kozarci to face Sloboda. You can watch a recording of the Hajduk–Sloga match from Čonoplja on Kula TV tonight after the news at 20.
Crvenka’s footballers lost 5:3 at home to Mladost APA from Apatin in their 22 round match in the Vojvodina League Northern Group. It should be noted that Crvenka took the field against the Apatin team with a weakened squad, without the suspended goalkeeper Gostović, Zelić and Marko Kerekeš, which certainly affected their performance. Mladost took advantage of this handicap and won. Crvenka took the lead through Babić, but the Apatin team then scored four goals. Two penalty goals by Crvenka captain Milan Subotić added a measure of drama. However, after Božič’sić missed, the visitors scored a fifth goal to secure the win. Following this defeat, Crvenka is fourteenth in the standings with 24 points and travels to league leaders Tekstilac in Odžaci in the next round.
Rusin’s footballers from Ruski Krstur have suffered their second consecutive defeat. After losing at home to Omladinac from Bukovac, in the previous, 22 round of the Sombor District League, Rusin lost 2:1 away to ŽAK in Sombor. Danojević’s goal late in the game merely reduced the visitors’ losing margin. Rusin are currently fourth in the standings with 41 points earned, and next round they travel to Gložan to face Budućnost.
In the 17 round of the Sombor Inter-Municipal League First Division, three clubs from our municipality played away, returning with two wins. Second-placed Lipar played away in Svilajevo and beat hosts Terekveš 3:0. Lipar’s scorers were Mijić, Lalić and Tutić. Kula’s footballers also won in their away match in Ribarevo, where they faced Jedinstvo. As Kula coach Slobodan Kukoљ said, in a very difficult match his players found the strength to crown their superior play with a spectacular goal by Babić, beating Jedinstvo 1:0. Polet from Sivac lost 5:1 away to hosts Hajduk in Stapar. Miroslav Varga scored Polet’s consolation goal. Our fourth representative at this level, Mladost from Kruščić, had a bye this round. Lipar remains second with 39 points, Kula is third with 31, Polet sixth with 25, and Mladost remains bottom with 4 points. The next round features a municipal derby: Kula hosts Mladost from Kruščić at Geder, Lipar hosts Omladinac from Deronje, while Polet hosts Dunav from Bački Monoštor in Sivac.
While Crvenka’s handball players, members of the Serbian ARKUS Super League, are resting until 17 April, Sivac’s handball players and the Laki women’s team from Crvenka were in action last weekend, and both clubs suffered defeats.
Sivac’s handball players lost 33:29 away to Smederevo in their 15 round match in the Super B League, with the score at half-time 16:11. Coach Branko Žežel’s team traveled to Smederevo without captain Kalić and two centre backs, Slavuljica and Džabasan, and remained competitive for the first twenty minutes or so, when the score was 12:10 in Smederevo’s favor. The home team then went on a 3:0 run, opened up a five-goal lead, and took that advantage into half-time. The start of the second half was completely dominated by Smederevo, who went on a 6:0 run and led by as many as eleven goals in the 36. minute, with the score at 22:11. Knowing the win was secured, Smederevo allowed Sivac’s players to score eight goals in the final 5-6 minutes, reducing the margin of defeat to a reasonable level. Marko Čabai was Sivac’s top scorer with 13 goals. Sivac 69 is currently fifth in the standings with 16 points and hosts Morava from Velika Plana in the next round.
In the 14 round of the First League championship for women’s handball, Laki hosted Sloven from Ruma in Crvenka. The visitors won 33:23. In the first half, while they still had the energy, Crvenka’s young handball players put up respectable resistance against the physically much stronger Sloven team, and the visitors won that half 16:13. However, Laki’s young players ran out of steam in the second half, which Sloven’s stronger players took advantage of to record a convincing win. Following this defeat, Laki is ninth in the standings with 6 points and will host Ruma again in Crvenka in the next round.
In round 6 of the First Serbian League playoff, Hajduk’s basketball team lost 86:85 at home to Stara Pazova. Hajduk took the court weakened by the absence of injured players Bajić and Tešović, as well as point guard Jokanović. The match was very evenly balanced, as the score shows. Neither team led by more than six points during 40 minutes of play, and the closing stages were especially exciting. With 4,6 seconds left, Hajduk led 85:83. However, after a timeout, the visitors brought the ball in from Hajduk’s half and managed to score a three-pointer for a narrow win. Hajduk’s top scorers were Cvetićanin with 17 and Marinković with 16 points. Hajduk are currently fifth in the playoff standings, with six wins and six losses, and will travel to Nova Pazova in the next round.
In the derby of round 16 of the First Vojvodina League, table leaders Hajduk’s volleyball team lost away to second-placed Novi Sad 2 in Novi Sad, 3:2 in sets, after nine consecutive wins. With one point earned, they managed to retain top spot. Hajduk coach Milorad Lazić noted that the team played nervously and that his players knew a tough match was ahead. He believes the defeat was due to Hajduk’s young players succumbing to the pressure of the important match and failing to perform at the expected level. Hajduk won the first set 25:23, the hosts took the next two 25:13 and 25:17, and Hajduk won the fourth set 25:21, meaning the tie-break would decide the winner. Novi Sad were stronger in the fifth set, winning it 15:9 for a final score of 3:2. With 41 points earned, Hajduk lead the league table. In the next round they host third-placed Sloven from Ruma, and that match will decide who moves up to the higher division: the Second League.
Hajduk's women's volleyball team beat Jedinstvo from Novi Bečej by the maximum 3:0 in sets at home in Kula in round 5 of the Second Vojvodina League championship. The win placed them among the teams competing for first place and promotion. In the next round, Hajduk's women's team visit Respekt in Kovilj.
