Crvenka’s handball team, led by new coach Miloš Mitrović, made a successful start to the Super B League season. In their opening match, played in front of their home fans, Crvenka defeated Kolubara from Lazarevac 31: 26, with the halftime score 16:12. With excellent defensive play, Miloš Mitrović’s team scored easy goals from fast breaks and semi-fast breaks, while backcourt player Marko Tasić was in fine shooting form during positional attacks, so the victory was never in doubt. Had coach Mitrović not given the substitutes a chance late in the match, when Crvenka was leading by as many as nine goals, the win would have been even more decisive. Savo Bošković was Crvenka’s top scorer with 9 goals and was also named player of the match.
In the next round, Crvenka will visit newcomers to the Super B League, Sinđelić.
Our other representative in the Super B League, Sivac 69, were due to play away in Inđija, but due to illness and player injuries, at the request of both clubs, Inđija and Sivac, the match was postponed and will be played on Thursday, 30 September.
In the second round of the First League championship for women’s handball, Laki hosted Jadran from Feketić in Crvenka and lost 34:27, with Jadran leading 16:9 at halftime. The visitors from Feketić are simply the stronger team, as they showed on the court. Željana Tatalović was Laki’s top scorer with nine goals. Kručle, newcomers to the First League, made their league debut in Sivac against Ruma. The more experienced visitors won 29:22, leading 13:10 at halftime. Kručle held their own for the first twenty minutes, and the score was 9:9 in the 23 minute, but Sivac’s players scored just once and conceded four goals in the remaining seven minutes of the first half. In the second half, Ruma’s experienced handball players skillfully maintained their lead, extending it to six midway through the half before comfortably seeing out the match. Aleksandra Jelenković was Kručle’s top scorer with 9 goals. After two rounds, neither Laki nor Kručle have any points. In the third round, Kručle will visit Jadran in Feketić, while Laki will visit Proleter in Zrenjanin.
The past football weekend will be remembered for Hajduk's disastrous defeat. In the seventh round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina group, Kula's team hosted Borce from Sakule in front of their home fans. It is true that Hajduk went into the match with a depleted squad, but few expected Borce from Sakule to beat Hajduk by as much as 7:0 in Kula. More than such a convincing defeat, what hurts all Hajduk supporters is what they watched: a listless, unimaginative Hajduk, with players who seemed indifferent to whether the score was one-nil or seven-nil. Here is what we recorded in a conversation with Hajduk coach Željko Račić after the match between Hajduk and Borce from Sakule.
Hajduk are currently twelfth in the standings with 7 points, and will travel to Kikinda next round.
The seventh round of the championship in the Sombor District League will not be remembered fondly by representatives from the Municipality of Kula, as all three teams lost. Rusin surprised everyone: after three consecutive home wins in Ruski Krstur, they lost to Sombor’s ŽAK 4:1. With the score at 1:1, Rusin’s most prolific player, Janko Kuli, failed to score from the penalty spot, and the visitors took the lead on the counterattack, 2:1. They scored two more goals before the final whistle and deservedly claimed victory. Sajanković scored for Rusin. Crvenka visited Ratkovo, where they lost 4:3 to the home side, Radnički. This match will be remembered for Crvenka going into halftime 3:0 ahead, thanks to two goals by Šakić and one by Babić. But in the second half, they seemed to run out of steam, which Radnički took advantage of to turn defeat into victory. Our third representative, Lipar, lost 4:1 away to the home side, Borac, in Obrovac. Strahinja Novaković scored Lipar’s only goal. After seven rounds, Rusin are seventh with 12 points, Crvenka are fourteenth with 3, and Lipar are fifteenth with just one point. In the next round, Crvenka will be away again, visiting Radnički in Sombor. Lipar will host Borac from Bački Gračac, while Rusin will visit Budućnost in Mladenovo.
The sixth round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division, was marked by a municipal derby played in Sivac, where home team Polet defeated Kula 3:1. Two goals from the experienced Romić and one from Marković were enough for the Sivac side to win against what Kula coach Slobodan Kukolj called a “terrible” Kula team. Gačević scored for Kula. Our third representative in this league, Mladost, defeated Dinamo from Bački Breg 5:0 in Kruščić. Radojica Jovanović scored three goals for Mladost, while Grdinić and Šćepanović scored one each. Polet is currently second in the standings with 13 points, Kula is fifth with 12, and Mladost is tenth with 7 points. In the next round, Kula hosts Aleksa Šantić, Sivac’s Polet travels to Dinamo in Bački Breg, and Mladost visits OFK Odžaci.
In the third round of the First Vojvodina League, Hajduk’s bowlers played away in Feketić, where they beat Novi Elan from Srbobran 7:1 on points, or 3132:3084 in knocked-down pins. Dragan Đorđević achieved the highest score for Hajduk, knocking down 560 pins, while points were also won by Marko Eraković with 525, Vladimir Trišić with 515, and Milorad Vuksan with 514 pins knocked down. Hajduk’s bowlers are currently third in the standings with 4 points, but with a game in hand, and in the next round they host Dunav from Bačka Palanka.
