The handball players’ victory marked the past sporting weekend in Crvenka

Crvenka handball players hosted Šamot from Aranđelovac in the relegation playoff of the Serbian ARKUS Super League and secured a valuable win. Crvenka beat Šamot 24:19, with the halftime score 12:9. Crvenka made a brilliant start, taking a 3:0 lead, and when they went ahead 11:5 in the 21th minute, it seemed the winner had been decided. But a series of errors and missed clear chances followed, and in the 40th minute the visitors drew level, with the score at 14:14. After that wake-up call, however, Crvenka got back to playing as they know how, tightened their defense and threatened the visitors’ goal on counterattacks and fast breaks. In the 55th minute they built a six-goal lead, going ahead 22:16, and then comfortably saw the game through to the finish as they wanted—with a win. Vuk Perović and Karanović were Crvenka’s top scorers, with six goals each, while Crvenka goalkeeper Luka Pavićević was named player of the match. Crvenka remain bottom of the ARKUS Super League relegation group with 8 points, and in the next round, scheduled for 17 and 18 April, they will host Novi Pazar.

Sivac’s handball players caused an unpleasant surprise, losing 36:35 at home to Vozdovac from Belgrade in the 14 round of the Super B League, with the halftime score at 20:16 in Vozdovac’s favor. It is a shame, as this ended Sivac’s successful run this spring: in their previous five matches, they had recorded four wins and a draw against league leaders Kolubara from Lazarevac. And it seems that the draw against the leaders cost Branko Zezelj’s team the win. Sivac’s handball players had played Kolubara on Wednesday and were emotionally and physically drained. As coach Zezelj said, his team was not at the expected level and lacked energy, which resulted in many missed clear-cut chances. That came back to haunt them, and Vozdovac claimed victory. Sivac led 26:25 in the 45 minute, but Vozdovac took a 29:27 lead in the 51 minute and, with the teams trading goals, eventually won. Marko Cabai was Sivac’s top scorer with 15 goals. Sivac 69 are currently fifth in the table with 16 points, and in the next round they will visit Smederevo.

In round 13 of the First League championship, Crvenka’s Laki team visited Ada, where they faced Halas József. The hosts are the league leaders and lived up to their role as favorites, defeating Laki 34:15, with the halftime score 19:6. Anželi Lovre was Laki’s top scorer, netting 5 goals. The young Crvenka handball players are currently ninth in the standings with 6 points, and will host Sloven of Ruma in the next round.

Hajduk lost away in Ruma in the 24 round of the Serbian League Vojvodina group championship. The team was beaten 3:1 by 1 Maj Ruma, despite taking a 1:0 lead through a goal from young Božović. The Kula side are currently thirteenth in the table with 32 points, and they are away again in the next round: they will face Dunav in Stari Banovci.

In the 21 round of the Northern Group of the Vojvodina League, Crvenka’s footballers, after three consecutive wins, lost 3:0 away to hosts Tavankut. The defeat was not a major surprise, given that Crvenka were without several players: goalkeeper Gostović, Zelić and Marko Kerekeš were suspended, while Miloš Kerekeš and Končar were unavailable due to yellow-card suspensions. Crvenka are currently fourteenth in the standings with 24 points, and next round they host Mladost APA from Apatin.

Rusin’s footballers from Ruski Krstur disappointed. After three consecutive wins that had taken them to second place in the table, they lost 3:1 at home to Omladinac from Bukovac in the 21 round of the Sombor District League. Rusin took the lead in the first half through Sajankovic, but in the second half Danojevic and Brankovic failed to convert excellent chances. Then, from the sixty-seventh minute, the visitors scored twice in two minutes following defensive blunders by Rusin, and the home side were unable to recover. Following this defeat, Rusin are fourth in the table with forty-one points, and in the next round they will visit ZAK in Sombor.

Our clubs had a successful weekend in the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division. In the 16th round, Kula beat Dinamo from Bački Breg 4:2 at Geder. Bukejlović scored twice, while Tapai scored a goal after a brilliant assist from Zlatić, and Janjić scored one as well. Polet beat Omladinac from Deronje 2:1 in Sivac. Sivac secured the win with goals from Marković and Rašković. In a bottom-of-the-table derby in Kruščić, Mladost beat Jedinstvo from Ribarevo 1:0, with Jokić scoring the winning goal. Our fourth representative at this level, Lipar, had a bye. Lipar are second in the table with 36 points, Kula are fourth with 28, Polet are sixth with 25, and Mladost are bottom with 4 points. In the next round, Lipar will visit Terekveš in Svilajevo, Kula will visit Jedinstvo in Ribarevo, Polet will travel to Stapar to face Hajduk, while Mladost have a bye.

Hajduk’s futsal team beat Kikinda 7:6 in the return leg of the Futsal Vojvodina League relegation play-off, playing at home in the Petefi Brigade Primary School sports hall. Šinka scored twice for Hajduk, while Jovanović, Delić, Isakov and Patković scored one each. Since Kikinda won the first leg at home 6:2, Hajduk finished the Futsal Vojvodina League season tenth in the table.

In the fifth round of the First Serbian League playoffs, Hajduk’s basketball players lost to hosts Železničar 101:87 away in Inđija, with the halftime score 50:46 in Hajduk’s favor. Given that Hajduk traveled to Inđija without its most experienced player, Bajić, as well as Jokanović, Rnić, Šljivančanin, Terzić and Kuveljić, and that center Tešović was also unable to help the team, it is clear what personnel problems coach Danilo Borović faced. Yet, despite all these difficulties, Hajduk controlled the game for 28 minutes and held the lead, before the hosts’ experience came to the fore and Hajduk suffered a defeat. Cvetićanin was Hajduk’s top scorer with 26 points, Škrbić scored 18, and Laković 15. The game in Inđija will also be remembered for the debut of fifteen-year-old Ognjen Mirosavljev. With six wins and five losses, Hajduk’s basketball players are third in the standings, and in the next round the Kula team hosts Stara Pazova.

Hajduk’s volleyball players keep up their winning run. In the 15 round of the First Vojvodina League championship, Hajduk defeated Stražilovo from Sremski Karlovci 3:1 in sets. Hajduk won the first set 25:13, the second 25:20, while Stražilovo took the third 25:22. But in the fourth set, things returned to form, with Hajduk winning it 25:20, recording their ninth consecutive victory and leading the standings with 40 points. In the next round, Hajduk will visit second-placed Novi Sad 2. Hajduk’s women’s team also did well, defeating Elan away in Srbobran in the fourth round of the Second Vojvodina League championship 3:0, with set scores of 25:22, 25:16, and 25:20. With two wins and two losses, Hajduk’s women are currently third in the standings, and will host Novi Bečej in the next round.

An interesting volleyball event took place in Crvenka yesterday, but it was sitting volleyball. The second round of the Serbian Sitting Volleyball First League was played, featuring the teams of disabled volleyball clubs “Banja Luka” from Belgrade, “Borac” from Novi Sad, “Feniks” from Kikinda, and “Crvenka.” In the first match, “Banja Luka” beat Crvenka 3:0, taking the sets 25:17, 25:14, and 25:11. In the second match, “Banja Luka” also beat “Feniks” 3:0; in the third, “Borac” from Novi Sad beat Feniks 3:1; and in the fourth, “Borac” also beat Crvenka 3:0, taking the sets 25:20, 25:18, and 25:9. Crvenka’s sitting volleyball team entered the First League to compete and learn, and every match and every defeat is another valuable experience. The third round of the Serbian Sitting Volleyball First League will be held on 4 April in Belgrade.
