A review of weekend sports events

The sporting weekend for our teams begins tonight, as Hajduk’s basketball and futsal players take to the court.

In the eighth round of the Serbian First League, Hajduk’s basketball team travel to face Podrinje in Mačvanska Mitrovica. In the first round, Kula won at home by more than 40 points against Podrinje. They are higher in the league table and are favourites, but they must prove it on the court as well. The match between Podrinje and Hajduk will be played tonight in Sremska Mitrovica, starting at 17 hours and 30 minutes.

In the 10 round of the Vojvodina Futsal League, Hajduk’s futsal team travel to Vrbas to take on Leteći Holanđanin. Vrbas won convincingly in Kula in the third round, and playing at home, they are realistically the favourites to win again. The match between Hajduk and Leteći Holanđanin will be played in Vrbas tonight, starting at 21.

In the eighth round of the Serbian ARKUS Super League, Crvenka’s handball team host Vojvodina from Novi Sad. Given that Crvenka have not earned a single point in the previous seven rounds and that they are welcoming multiple Serbian champions, anything other than another Crvenka defeat would be a major surprise. The match between Crvenka and Vojvodina will be played tomorrow at the “Slobodan Čile Mišković” sports hall in Crvenka, starting at 18.

In the 8 round of the Serbian Super B League, Sivac’s handball team host Inđija. The match will pit two teams level on points and next to each other in the league table. Sivac say they will make the most of home advantage and claim victory. The match between Sivac and Inđija will be played tomorrow at the Sivac sports hall, starting at 18.

In the seventh round of the First League championship for women’s handball, Laki host Spartak from Debeljača in Crvenka. The young women from Crvenka have won two matches in a row, are playing at home and look forward to facing Spartak with optimism. Spartak are objectively the better team, but they will have to prove it. The Laki–Spartak from Debeljača match will be played tomorrow in the Crvenka sports hall, starting at 14.

In the 18th round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group, Hajduk’s footballers host Kozara from Banatsko Veliko Selo in Kula. The players from Kula have no choice; anything other than a win would push them into the group of teams that will fight desperately to avoid relegation from the Serbian League. The points will carry extra weight because Kozara are also in the group of teams near the bottom of the table, so a win for Hajduk would push their visitors even lower. The match between Hajduk and Kozara from Banatsko Veliko Selo will be played tomorrow at Milan Sredanović Stadium, kicking off at 13 o’clock.

In round 16 of the North Group of the Vojvodina League, Crvenka’s footballers travel to play Obilić in Novi Kneževac. Obilić are second from bottom in the standings, which means they must beat Crvenka if they want to stay in the fight to avoid relegation. The hosts’ need to win is precisely an opportunity for Crvenka’s footballers to play calmly and patiently, wait for a chance to counterattack, and achieve a favorable result. The match between Obilić and Crvenka will be played tomorrow in Novi Kneževac, starting at 13.

In the final round of the autumn season in the Sombor District League, Rusin footballers from Ruski Krstur travel to Pivnice to face Slavija. Krstur’s team are near the top of the table and, free of any pressure, say they will prove their worth in Pivnice as well. The match between Slavija and Rusin will be played in Pivnice on Sunday, starting at 13.

In the sixth round of the First Vojvodina League, Hajduk’s volleyball players travel to Sremski Karlovci, where they will face Stražilovo 2. Kula have earned five convincing wins in their first five rounds and lead the standings, so they have announced that they will confirm in Sremski Karlovci that their place at the top is no accident. The match between Stražilovo and Hajduk will be played tomorrow in Sremski Karlovci, starting at 16.
