In the eighth round of the Second League, Hajduk’s newcomers to this level of competition hosted the experienced Dunav Volley team from Novi Sad in front of their home crowd and suffered a 3:0 defeat. The first set, which Hajduk lost 25:21, seems to have been decisive; the players expended a great deal of physical and mental energy and could not recover as the match went on, losing the second set 25:10 and the third 25:16. So far in the second-division championship, Hajduk’s volleyball players have earned one point, and in the ninth round they travel to Sremska Mitrovica to face Srem Iton.
In the eighth round of the First Vojvodina League championship, Hajduk’s women’s volleyball team played away in Subotica, where they faced league leaders Spartak. Volleyball Club Hajduk head Milorad Lazić, commenting on the performance of the men’s and women’s teams to date, says Hajduk relies on its own youth academy and on the players who came up through it. Results are suffering due to inexperience, as they cannot come overnight. Patience and consistent work are needed, and results will follow.
