Our handball teams’ victories marked the past sports weekend. In the seventh round of the Super B League championship, both of our representatives played at home. In the old Vojvodina derby, Crvenka beat Jugović from Kać 25:20 in front of their fans; the halftime score was 13:8. Coach Vladimir Zejak’s players started the game with great discipline and commitment, and by the 13 minute they had built a five-goal lead, going ahead 8:3. They managed to maintain that advantage until the end of the match. Every player on the Crvenka team gave their best. Aleksandar Šveljo stood out with 9 goals, and young Crvenka center-back Veljko Čabrilo was named Player of the Match.
Sivac 69 beat Jedinstvo from Novi Bečej 29:27 in a small Vojvodina derby, with the support of their fans. The match was full of twists and turns. Sivac led by three goals in the eighth minute, at 5:2, but Jedinstvo took a three-goal lead toward the end of the first half, going ahead 16:13. The visitors were also three goals ahead in the 44 minute, leading 21:18, but ten minutes later Sivac’s handball players took the lead through determined play and ultimately deservedly celebrated. In the sixth round of the First Serbian League championship, Hajduk’s basketball players lost 85:70 away to Novi Sad’s Sloboda in Futog; the halftime score was 42:37. The third quarter decided the game, with Sloboda’s basketball players winning it 21:13. According to Hajduk coach Danilo Borović, Hajduk’s basketball players started the game too nervously and without enough energy, so the defeat was a fair reflection of what happened on the court.
