Crvenka beaten in Vrbas

It was an exciting sports weekend, marked by Hajduk’s football victory after seven consecutive defeats. In the tenth round of the Serbian League Vojvodina group, Hajduk hosted Kozara from Banatsko Veliko Selo in front of their fans and, after seven straight defeats, the team from Kula finally secured a win. It was thoroughly deserved, as they were the better team and created more chances, two of which Aleksandar Erak and Marko Matijašević converted into goals, giving Hajduk a 2:0 victory over Kozara. After this win, Hajduk are thirteenth in the standings with 9 points, and in the next round they will visit Dinamo in Pančevo.

The weekend was also marked by handball, as both of our Super League teams played at home.

In front of their supporters, Crvenka beat Voždovac from Belgrade 26:24 in the fifth round of the Super B League championship; the half-time score was 13:9. Crvenka’s handball players were the better side, controlling both the play and the score throughout. In the 51. minute, they had a seven-goal lead, with the score at 25:18, but then, realizing victory was assured, they played more casually, allowing the visitors to make the defeat respectable. Crvenka’s top scorer was young Veljko Čabrilo with 5 goals, and the coaches selected Crvenka goalkeeper Nemanja Račić as the player of the match.

Our other Super League team, Sivac 69, hosted Jugović from Kać. Handicapped by the absence of their outstanding goalkeeper Nikola Bogojević, Sivac had to settle for a point. The match ended in a draw, 34:34. The final minute was particularly dramatic. The visitors from Kać scored their 34th goal about twenty seconds before the end. The Sivac players took a quick restart, and the young Anđelković, from the wing, threw a so-called “alley-oop” to Beslać, who scored the equalizer three seconds before the end. The match will also be remembered for the fact that the most experienced player and one of the league’s top scorers, Vitomir Kalić, failed to score a single goal. Sivac’s Marko Čabai was the top scorer and the best player of the match, scoring 13 goals.

After the fifth round, Sivac 69 is sixth in the table with 6, while Crvenka is seventh with 4 points. In the next round, Sivac 69 visits Bačka Palanka to face Lavovi, while Crvenka visits Smederevo.

Crvenka’s footballers suffered a crushing defeat away to Vrbas in the tenth round of the North group of the Vojvodina League. Hosts Vrbas defeated Crvenka 7:0. After such a result, any comment on Crvenka’s performance is unnecessary. Following this defeat, Crvenka’s footballers are eleventh in the standings with 13 points, and in the next round they will host Mladost from Bački Petrovac in front of their home fans.

Rusín from Ruski Krstur fared no better. In the tenth round of the Sombor District League, they lost 6:1 to Kordun away in Kljajićevo. Experienced Srđan Đukanović scored Rusín’s consolation goal. Rusín are tenth in the standings with 14 points, and will host Budućnost from Mladenovo in the next round.

In the tenth round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division, all four teams from our municipality played at home, earning nine points from a possible 12. Mladost were the only team to come away empty-handed, losing 3:0 to Stanišić in Kruščić. Lipar beat Lider from Odžaci 4:0. Lipar’s goals were scored by Zrakić, Lazić, Živko and Popović. Kula beat Jedinstvo from Ribarevo 1:0 at the Geder ground. The winning goal was scored by experienced Đorđe Bukejlović. Our fourth representative, Polet, beat Dunav from Bački Monoštor 3:0 in Sivac. Polet’s scorers were Pejanović, Romić and Čvokić. After the tenth round, Lipar are fifth in the standings with 18 points, Kula are eighth, and Polet are ninth, each with 16, while Mladost are twelfth with 10 points. In the next round, Lipar travel to OFK Odžaci, Kula will face Omladinac in Bukovac, Polet travel to Ribarevo to take on Jedinstvo, and Mladost from Kruščić visit Aleksa Šantić.

Hajduk’s basketball players defeated Železničar from Inđija 76:71 at home in Kula in the third round of the First Serbian League championship. It was a very exciting game, with several changes in the lead, and the hosts coped better, led by the experienced Jovan Bajić and young Aleksa Tešović, along with a notable contribution from Nikola Lješević, to defeat the favored team from Inđija. With two wins and one loss, Hajduk are fourth in the standings. In the next round, they face Vrbas in a local derby in Vrbas; Vrbas have won all three of their opening games. It should also be noted that during halftime of the game against Železničar from Inđija, a prize contest was held for spectators, who tried to score from the center of the court to win the grand prize—a portable air conditioner. None of the contestants managed to score, so spectators will have another chance to win an air conditioner at Hajduk’s next home game.
