Enrollment of children in the “Bambi” Preschool in Kula begins on 25 May and runs until 5 June, the institution announced. Parents can submit the required documents to the preschool in person or electronically, a new option this year, said “Bambi” director Snežana Bulatović. As before, enrollment is organized in all settlements, while taking the current epidemiological situation into account, so enrollment is being held at facilities that children are not currently attending. The application process through eGovernment, or ePreschool, is also very straightforward, Director Bulatović noted, explaining that parents who log in to their accounts receive all the information they need about submitting an application. Parents should follow the instructions and procedures, as there are categories for children from vulnerable groups who need to provide additional documentation. The list of documents required for enrollment is quite long, but all children need a birth certificate and proof of their parents’ employment status. The other documents depend on the group to which the child belongs.
The application period lasts two weeks, after which the Central Enrollment Commission will review the documents and score and rank the children in accordance with the applicable Rulebook.
“For the past few years, due to limited space and staffing, we have been unable to accept all the children. This year, too, we are considering this problem and trying to find a solution so we can enroll as many children as possible. I should point out that we also enroll children throughout the year to fill any vacant places. If a child on the ranking list withdraws, we enroll children who were unsuccessful in the first round,” said Director Bulatović.
After the state of emergency was lifted, the “Bambi” Preschool opened its doors on 11 May to children whose parents both have to go to work. Around a hundred children are currently attending preschool, and it is possible that in the coming period, in the second phase, children outside this group will also be able to attend.
“Work is organized according to the strict rules and instructions prescribed by the Crisis Headquarters. Working under these conditions and with the current measures is not easy, but by making use of our facilities and the efforts of all our staff, we have managed to fully comply with all recommended measures. With this number of children, around 25 percent of all those enrolled, across all six settlements, we have managed to adapt our work to the situation we are in. The only thing that is very difficult is keeping the children socially distanced, but we are managing that too, since we are working with smaller groups and our educators are highly professional. Through play and other activities, we are able to maintain distance. In this way, we are looking after not only the children’s health, but also their well-being, making sure they feel good and comfortable here, and that preschool is what it should be.
