Ragweed begins to flower aggressively in mid-August, and allergen levels remain high until mid-September. As a result, these two months are a real nightmare for those who suffer from pollen allergies. Increased itching and watery eyes, coughing, sneezing and difficulty breathing are symptoms caused by ragweed allergy.
Elevated pollen levels in our municipality have been present since last week and, as Agency for protection environmental middle that trend will continue until 10. September.
The ragweed concentration in our municipality is 400 pollen grains per meter cubic and this places the municipality of Kula in the red zone, where ragweed pollen concentrations are at their peak.
The green zone includes areas where the concentration of ragweed pollen is up to 30 grains per cubic meter; the yellow zone, from 30 to 100; and the red zone, over 100 grains per cubic meter.
On the territory of the municipality of Kula, ragweed is controlled every year along field roads, turnouts on field roads, and railway crossings. The total area where ragweed-control measures have been carried out to date is 84.000 m².
Since many people are allergic to this plant, which causes serious health problems, residents must also take part in the fight against ragweed in the municipality of Kula.
We hereby urge all households that find ragweed plants on their property to take measures to destroy them and thus prevent their further spread.
For people allergic to ragweed, a possible solution is to get away to areas with lower pollen concentrations. Sensitive individuals should also know that airing rooms and hanging laundry outside are not recommended. Wearing sunglasses to protect the eyes from pollen is recommended, as is changing clothes after every walk and washing your hair every night. It is especially important not to touch your eyes or nose.
