The past sporting weekend was marked by a win for Hajduk’s footballers and another defeat for Crvenka’s handball players.
In the final round 19 of the autumn season in the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group, Hajduk's footballers delighted their supporters, beating Vojvodina 4:0 away in Perlez. Hajduk's top scorer Furtula “unlocked” the hosts in the first half, and goals by Kostić, Zoran, and Slobodan Vuković in the second half gave Hajduk a convincing and valuable win. Valuable because, with the three points earned in Perlez, the team from Kula took a significant step toward the middle of the table. Hajduk's footballers finished the autumn half-season in fourteenth place in the standings with 25 points.
Crvenka's footballers lost 5:0 at home to Vojvodina from Bačko Gradište in the final round of the autumn season in the Vojvodina League, North Group. The visitors are top of the table and justified their status as favorites with their performance in Crvenka. It is also worth noting that Crvenka had only eleven players on the match sheet, and their coach, Milan Vujaković, was absent from the bench for health reasons. Given all that, along with the visitors' undeniable quality, defeat was inevitable. Crvenka finished the autumn season in the Vojvodina League, North Group, in sixteenth place in the standings with 15 points, and face a desperate battle to avoid relegation in the spring season.
Crvenka’s handball players have suffered their ninth defeat in the Serbian ARKUS Super League championship. The “Squirrels” visited Subotica, where hosts Spartak beat them 21:20. Crvenka also took the court in Subotica with a depleted squad, without captain Radonjić, back Mitrović, goalkeeper Pavićević, or the Čabrilo brothers. Despite this, they were evenly matched, and were the better side in the first half, leading by a goal: the teams went into the break with Crvenka ahead 10:9. The second half saw the teams trade goals, and in this battle of nerves the hosts proved more clinical, recording their second league win, while Crvenka suffered their ninth defeat. In the next round, Crvenka’s handball players host Dinamo from Pančevo.
Among the other sports clubs from the Kula municipality active last weekend were Hajduk's basketball players, who hosted Srem from Sremska Mitrovica in a round 9 clash in the First Serbian League. Srem had won every game so far this season. It was an excellent basketball spectacle—a real chess match in which every move could prove decisive—and the visitors handled it better, winning 80:77. Hajduk's basketball players won the first half 44:43 and led 61:60 after the third quarter. They had possession in the final 46 seconds, but Hajduk player Jokanović missed a shot after a good drive, and the visitors managed to preserve their three-point lead and secure the win. Jokanović was Hajduk's top scorer with 19 points, including five three-pointers. Hajduk's basketball players have recorded five wins and four losses so far this season, and next round they visit Omladinac in Novi Banovci.
