Sivac’s handball team drew with Mačva from Bogatić—25:25—in their opening match of the Super B League season last night in front of their home fans. It was a true handball spectacle, with plenty of pace and drama. The visitors held the lead for almost the entire match, but Sivac’s players, spurred on by the crowd, managed to catch up and earn a point. The final minute was especially dramatic. Radulović put Mačva ahead 25:24 on a counterattack; then, with 34 seconds remaining, Radulović illegally stopped Kalić, earning a suspension, while the referees also awarded Sivac a penalty. Sivac’s top scorer in the First League, Marko Čabaj, took the seven-meter throw, but Mačva’s goalkeeper read him and saved it. The ball rebounded into the hands of Mačva’s players, and just as the visitors seemed set to keep possession and secure the win, they made a mistake attempting a pass. The ball reached Beslać, who scored the equalizer, leaving a point in Sivac. Kalić was Sivac’s top scorer with 10 goals, while Sivac’s goalkeeper Bogojević was named player of the match.
Our other Super League team, Crvenka, were due to visit Požarevac in the first round of the Super B League championship, but the hosts had not provided all the necessary conditions for the match, so it was not played. Požarevac have been given until Wednesday to meet the required conditions, and if they do, the match between Požarevac and Crvenka will be played on Thursday.
Hajduk’s footballers have recorded their fourth consecutive defeat in the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group. Hajduk 1912 were beaten 2:0 by Radnički from Zrenjanin in front of their home fans on Saturday. The turmoil at the club, which led to coach Zoran Ćirić’s resignation and captain Davidov’s absence, seems to have affected events on the pitch. And when, as happened, a team concedes a goal in the first minute, it is truly difficult to recover. After this defeat, Hajduk’s footballers are twelfth in the table with six points, and in the next round they travel to face 1. Maj Ruma in Ruma.
Crvenka’s footballers earned a valuable victory. After their heavy defeat to Stari Grad, when they lost 6:0 in Bačka Palanka in the fifth round of the Vojvodina League, North group championship, the sixth-round match away in Pačir was an opportunity for Crvenka’s players to make amends, at least to some extent, for the defeat in Bačka Palanka. And that is what they did. Yesterday, Crvenka beat Bačka 4:0 in Pačir. The goals were scored by Babić, Šakić, Furtula and Milan Subotić. Following this victory, Crvenka are tenth in the table with 7 points, and in the next round they host Radnički from Sombor in front of their home fans.
