The past sports weekend was marked by the visit of Serbia’s youth national team and its victory over Montenegro’s team in Kula, as well as Hajduk’s footballers’ win in the Serbian League, Vojvodina group.
Football Club Hajduk and the municipality of Kula were once again part of the 27 annual Stevan Vilotić Ćele Memorial youth football tournament, organized by the Football Association of Serbia. Yesterday, Hajduk and the municipality of Kula hosted the youth national teams of Serbia and Montenegro, who played a match in the second round of the Ćele Memorial. Serbia's youth team dominated, beating Montenegro 5:0, with the halftime score at 3:0. A convincing scoreline and a convincing performance. Jovan Mituljkić scored twice for Serbia, while Vladimir Miletić, Marko Lazetić, and Srđan Hrstić scored once each.
In the 4 round of the Vojvodina group of the Serbian League, Hajduk earned an important victory away to Stari Grad in Bačka Palanka, beating the home team 2:1. The win was important for several reasons: first, because before the match in Bačka Palanka, following the defeat by Dinamo from Pančevo in Kula, coach Ivica Francišković had left the club; and second, because the victory made up for that loss to Dinamo. Hajduk’s players were tense in the first half and, after several mistakes in a row, allowed Stari Grad to take the lead. In the second half, Miloš Manojlović’s introduction brought a marked improvement in Hajduk’s play and more energy, and they crowned that performance with goals from Jančić and Macanović to secure the win. Hajduk are currently fifth in the league table with seven points and will host Borac from Šajkaš in the next round.
Results of the fourth round of the Sombor District League were dominated by the local derby played in Crvenka, where Rusin from Ruski Krstur deservedly beat Crvenka 2:0. Crvenka were handicapped by the absence of captain Milan Subotić and forward Babić, and were unable to withstand the visitors’ strong performance. They should be grateful to their excellent goalkeeper Jokić that they did not suffer a real rout. Kulić and Filip Vujović scored for Rusin against Crvenka. Lipar failed to record their first league win, losing 2:1 at home to Budućnost from Gložan. The visitors won the first half 2:0; Lipar tried to catch up in the second half, but could only reduce the deficit with a goal from Dejan Davidović. Rusin are currently tenth in the table with 6 points, Crvenka are thirteenth with 3, and Lipar are fifteenth with one point. In the next, fifth round of the championship, Rusin host Vojvodina from Tovariševo in Ruski Krstur, Crvenka visit Borac in Obrovac, and Lipar travel to Karavukovo to face Polet.
In the third round of the Sombor Inter-Municipal League, First Division, Kula’s footballers beat BSK from Bački Brestovac 2:1 at Geder. Slobodan Kukolj’s players gave it their all, put in a maximum effort and earned three more points. Bortnik and Husak scored for Kula. Polet from Sivac also delighted fans, beating Dunav 2:0 away in Bački Monoštor. Rašković and Marković scored for Polet. Our third representative at this level of competition, Mladost from Kruščić, lost 6:1 away to Omladinac in Deronje. Šćepanović scored Mladost’s consolation goal. After three rounds, Polet are third in the table with 7 points, Kula are seventh with 6, and Mladost are twelfth with 3 points. In the fourth round, Polet host Omladinac from Deronje in Sivac, Mladost host Terekveš from Svilojevo in Kruščić, and Kula travel to face Hajduk in Stapар.
The winner of the traditional night small-sided football tournament, which concluded last night in Crvenka, organized by Football Club Crvenka, is the MM Gvožđara team, which beat Malina 3:2 in the final. Celtic Pub took third place, beating Auto Delovi Ferrari, also 3:2. Before the final matches in the senior competition, an exhibition match was played between boys born in 2013 and 2014, respectively, with Crvenka and Polet from Sivac facing off; the match ended in a 1:1 draw. Then, in the final tournament match in the youth competition, Flamingo and Tortino from Sivac—the latter being Polet’s youth team—played to a 2:2 draw, enough for Flamingo to win the youth tournament. The senior winners, MM Gvožđara, received a prize of 100 thousand, runners-up Malina received 40, and third-place Celtic Pub received 20 thousand dinars. Individual awards were also presented at the Crvenka tournament. In the youth competition, the best player was Sergej Vujević of Flamingo, the top scorer was Bogdan Anđelić, and the best goalkeeper was Strahinja Rebić, both from Tortino. In the senior competition, Nedo Slavljulica of Malina was named the tournament’s best player in Crvenka, Darko Sušić of MM Gvožđara was top scorer, and the best goalkeeper was Jovica Kalinić, also a member of the team that won the Crvenka tournament.
Hajduk’s volleyball players failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Serbian Cup in Vojvodina, losing 3:0 in sets to Kikinda in a qualifying match played yesterday in Kula. Kikinda, favorites to earn promotion to the Serbian First League, lived up to their billing, but Hajduk coach Milorad Lazić says he is pleased with his players’ performance, as this was their first competitive match and they showed they have what it takes to take on any opponent. Kikinda’s volleyball players imposed their style of play from the start and won the first set 25:15. The second set was close until the score reached 12:12, when the visitors from Kikinda, thanks to excellent defensive play, opened up a 18:12 lead. However, led by captain Bigić, and with good serving and several blocks, they managed to get back into the match. The visitors had 24:21, three set points, but Hajduk player Jovan Kraјnović produced a superb jump serve, scoring three aces to level the score. However, the Kula side had no more energy for a full comeback, and Kikinda won the second set 27.25. Kikinda’s players won the third set 25:20. Hajduk fielded the following team: setters Bogdan Marić and Marko Milisavljević; receivers Stevan Horn, Stefan Novković and Marko Eraković; middle blockers Boško Bigić and Miloš Gostović; opposite hitters Nemanja Hodoњicki and Jovan Kraјnović; and libero Vuk Malenica.
As part of their preparations for the upcoming season, Hajduk’s basketball players, members of the First Serbian League, visited Novi Sad on Saturday and played a friendly match against Star, a member of Serbia’s First B League. The hosts won 73:68, and Hajduk basketball coach Danilo Borović notes that all the players had equal playing time against a team with high ambitions, and that he is pleased with their performance. Hajduk’s basketball players will have their next fitness test on Sunday, when they face Subotica’s Spartak.
