The 54th Zone Showcase of Children’s Drama

On Thursday, 27 April, at the Cultural Center in Kula, and on Friday, 28 April, at the Cultural Center in Crvenka, the 54th Zone Showcase of Dramatic Arts was held.

The following day, the remaining 4 performances in Serbian were presented to the audience in Crvenka. The “Stevan Sremac” Theater and the “Leptirići” Literary Section, “Krčevine” and Petko Zorić, performed the play    “Dreams in a Swing”directed by Cvijeta Jovanović Mučalica and Zoran Radulović; the Children’s Drama Section “Velimir Sandić Veljko” of the Sivac Cultural Center performed the play    ,,The Starving Wolf“, text and directed by Miloš Milošević; the Children’s Drama Studio of the Apatin Cultural Centre performed the play  ,,Please, Teacher“based on the text and directed by Dušan Gladić, and finally the play was also performed  “The Ugly Duckling”Performed by the drama groups of Veljko Vlahović Primary School in Kruščić and KUD “Kruščić,” directed by Mirjana Badža.

The showcase selector, Dr. Milan Vojnović, a graduate actor and independent expert associate in the Department of Acting in Serbian at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, said that it was a pleasure and a privilege for him to spend time with the youthful and wonderful energy our ensembles bring:

,,Today we had the opportunity to see some very fine works. We watched 4 very diverse performances – in terms of staging, language and genre. Above all, we saw the children’s joyful playfulness and enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere of the theatre, the stage and the stories they created with their dedicated drama-group leaders. We enjoyed them all, starting with the first performance, from Crvenka, followed by productions from Apatin, Sivac and Kruščić, making for a very rich programme. I am the selector for all the stages in Vojvodina, as well as for the final event held in Temerin at the “May Gatherings” of the Association for the Artistic Creativity of Children of Vojvodina, so these performances will certainly compete alongside all the others from Vojvodina. I’ll also watch the other Zone festivals; I’ve already seen some, while a few are still to come. It is a pleasure and a privilege to spend time with such young, wonderful and vibrant energy as that of our ensembles.”

He also pointed out that, in his opinion, a bright future awaits the children of the Kula municipality:

,“In my opinion, the future is bright for these children. They bring a new outlook on the world, a new energy, and we, as their educators, are certainly doing our best to hand this stage, and the world as a whole, over to them in the best possible light, in a dignified, authentic and creative way. Perhaps the end of the Crvenka performance we saw today illustrates that best: dreaming on a swing, as the globe suddenly appears on stage, and they are the ones who lift it and set it spinning. Symbolically, it is now in their hands, and they can go on shaping this world in a beautiful way.”

The organizers and hosts of the Festival are the Vojvodina Association for Amateur Arts, the Kula Municipal Cultural and Educational Community, the Crvenka Cultural Center and the Kula Cultural Center. The Festival is sponsored by the Municipality of Kula.
