As part of the project “Providing Sustainable Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons, Refugees and Migrants in the Municipality of Kula,” funded by the European Union under the FOR A BETTER LIFE programme, an advisory meeting for the project’s target group was held in the Small Hall of the Kula Municipal Assembly on 21 May 2015.
Those invited to the meeting included everyone who had received assistance in the form of economic empowerment or had completed training in preparing business plans during the project. The aim of the event was to provide beneficiaries with basic information about opportunities offered by national and provincial institutions that support the development of agriculture and entrepreneurship, for those embarking on some form of registered business activity, and to encourage them to use the assistance they received sustainably, so they can stabilize their families’ financial situation over the long term by creating additional income and employment for family members.
Presentations were given by Ivan Marić of the National Employment Service, who presented incentives for self-employment; Dragana Žekić, an associate at the Kula Municipality Development Agency, who outlined all currently available provincial and national incentives for agriculture and entrepreneurship; Igor Kojčić, an economic adviser from the partner organization IDC, who provided examples of best practices for using economic empowerment assistance as effectively as possible; and Mileva Kovač, the Kula Municipality Commissioner for Refugees, who informed attendees about current competitions intended for refugees. The project team expressed satisfaction with the level of interest among the end users in this event. 27 people were present and contributed to achieving the stated project goal with their questions and constructive suggestions.
The Municipality of Kula is implementing a project to improve the social and economic position of refugees, displaced persons, and migrants in cooperation with the Initiative for Development and Cooperation from Belgrade, under the auspices of the European Union.
