Hajduk’s volleyball players duly beat Botafogo from Novi Sad

Hajduk’s volleyball players, top of the First Vojvodina League standings, recorded an expected win last night in the postponed match in round 10. At the sports hall in Ruski Krstur, Hajduk defeated Botafogo from Novi Sad 3:0. In the clash between the league leaders and the team at the bottom of the table, Hajduk lived up to their status as overwhelming favorites, as the set scores show how dominant they were. In the first two sets, Hajduk allowed their opponents to score only 3 points in each, while Botafogo scored 11 points in the third. After ten rounds, Hajduk’s volleyball players are top of the First Vojvodina League standings with 26 points, and in the next round they will visit Maglić 1953 in Maglić, who are second-last in the standings, so another convincing Hajduk win can be expected.

In the next part of our sports segment, more about Hajduk Basketball Club. And for good reason: the senior team has secured a place in the playoffs, and the club’s younger teams are also on a path to success. After fourteen rounds in Group A of the First Serbian League, Hajduk’s basketball players recorded ten wins and four losses, finishing third in the group and securing a place in the playoffs, where they will try to win the title and earn promotion to a higher division. The playoffs begin on Saturday, and in the first round Hajduk host Železničar from Inđija. Hajduk’s younger teams are also on a path to success. The 2004 age group has qualified among the six best teams in Vojvodina and will try to earn a place at the Serbian Final Four in matches against their peers from Novi Sad’s Vojvodina, Tamiš from Pančevo, Proleter from Zrenjanin, Spartak from Subotica and Vrbas. Their achievement so far—finishing among the six best in Vojvodina—is a great success, as Hajduk’s players are the youngest, with only six players born in 2004, while the rest are from the 2006 and 2007 age groups. As for Hajduk’s 2002 basketball age group—the junior team, where younger first-team players gain experience and make up for their lack of playing time with the senior squad—this Hajduk team is currently tied for first place with Tamiš from Pančevo. Hajduk Basketball Club is very pleased that both its younger teams have reached the top ranks of Vojvodina basketball.

And finally, a football update to close the sports segment. As part of their preparations for the spring half of the Vojvodina League season, Crvenka played a friendly against Iskra from Kucura at home yesterday. Crvenka won 6:3, with Marko Kerekes and Babic scoring two goals each, and Bozicic and Milan Subotic also scoring. Crvenka’s footballers will have their next fitness test over the weekend, when they host Rusin from Ruski Krstur in their so-called final dress rehearsal. The spring half of the Vojvodina League season begins on 6 March, and Crvenka will host Srbobran in the opening round.
