Today is 15 January, the day when Driver’s Day is observed here and around the world. The Kula Municipality Drivers’ Association has marked this date every year with a formal event, reviewing its work over the previous year. However, due to the current epidemiological situation, the event was not held. On this occasion, Obrad Vojinović, president of the Kula Municipality Drivers’ Association, issued a statement today, congratulating all drivers on their holiday and wishing them good health and safe, happy journeys.
“Every year we try to mark this date, get together, and look back at what we’ve done and what our plans are for the coming year. This year we couldn’t do that because of the current epidemiological situation.”
Nevertheless, last year we managed to hold the Municipal Drivers’ Competition in Kruščić in cooperation with the Local Community, as part of the “Village Days – Grain Days” event
“We organize the ‘What Do You Know About Traffic?’ competition for primary school pupils every year in cooperation with schools, as well as the aforementioned competition in Kruščić for professional drivers. I hope we will be able to hold both competitions this year,” said Obrad Vojinović, president of the Kula Municipality Drivers’ Association.
Let us note that this important date for drivers has been observed since 1960, when Josip Broz Tito became an honorary member of the Yugoslav Drivers’ Association. After the breakup of Yugoslavia, only certain parts of the former SFRY retained the tradition of celebrating this day.
