On Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day, an important anniversary was symbolically commemorated in Nova Crvenka – 100 years since this settlement was founded. At the monument in the village center, dedicated to the Salonika Front soldiers, those gathered listened to a speech by the priest and then laid wreaths, paying tribute to participants in the wars of liberation of 1912–1918.
Kula Municipality President Damjan Miljanić also laid a wreath. He emphasized that today is an important day for Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, and especially for Nova Crvenka—a small place with a rooted memory of the difficult moments and trials that marked the Serbian people:
“Today is an important day and a holiday for all of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska—the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag—and especially for Nova Crvenka: 100 years since this place was founded and Nova Crvenka came into being. It is their village’s day, the breakthrough of the Salonika Front, and the day when the Salonika Front veterans settled these lands and founded this settlement. It is a small place, but one that cherishes that spirit and holds the memory of this event deep in its roots. Today we are all reminded that throughout history the Serbian people have faced difficult times and many trials in these lands, but that struggle has defined the Serbian people: the struggle for freedom, for a better tomorrow, to build a better Nova Crvenka, a better Kula Municipality and, ultimately, a better country and all the places where our people live. There is no room in this struggle for faint-heartedness or lamenting hard times, which have always existed. Instead, as the priest said so brilliantly and movingly in his sermon, we must build a better future through the struggle of our ancestors.”
As part of the program, a cultural and artistic event was organized at the Cultural Center in Nova Crvenka, featuring, among others, singing groups and a gusle player. Lunch was then served to those gathered. Live music was organized at the Cultural Center from 19.
