Nova Crvenka Settlement Day celebrated
The residents of Nova Crvenka and their guests celebrated the Day of this settlement. In addition to the settlement’s day, Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day was also commemorated. The program began with guests and hosts gathering in front of the monument in the village center. Then, at exactly noon, a wreath was laid at the monument to the Salonika volunteers, participants in the wars of liberation from 1912 to 1918. Representatives of the Municipality of Kula and the Nova Crvenka Local Community were joined in laying wreaths by representatives of the Kula municipal SUBNOR, the Nova Crvenka Local Organization of the Association of Veterans’ Organizations, and the “Staze” Association of Literary and Visual Artists. After the wreath-laying, poets Uglješa Slijepčević and Gavra Veselinović read their poems. A rich cultural and artistic program was also organized at the Cultural Center to mark Nova Crvenka Day, and the celebrations concluded with live music. Zoran Gojković, President of the Nova Crvenka Local Community Council, said he was very pleased that Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day was being celebrated in Nova Crvenka alongside the village day, and that passing on lessons about patriotism and the heroism of their ancestors to younger generations was a very important task: “I’m very pleased that Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day is being celebrated in Nova Crvenka. As a host, I’m delighted that it is being held right here and that I have the honor of welcoming our guests. This is a village where the descendants of the Salonika volunteers live, and we pass on lessons about the patriotism and heroism of their ancestors and ours to younger generations.” Damjan Miljanić, President of the Municipality of Kula, highlighted an important development for life in Nova Crvenka: the opening of a kindergarten, which has never before existed or operated in this settlement. This will make life considerably easier both for Nova Crvenka’s youngest residents and for their parents: “Nova Crvenka seems to me to be the best place to celebrate a very important holiday for our country and our people. It is the smallest settlement in our municipality, but it has certainly not been forgotten or neglected. Many good things are happening in Nova Crvenka, and for the first time we have a positive development: the opening of a kindergarten that has never operated or existed here. Now, thanks to the Ministry of Education and the ‘Bambi’ Preschool Institution, we have embarked on this project. I believe the work on a municipal building will soon be completed, allowing the kindergarten group to begin operating.” Nova Crvenka is also represented in the local assembly. Councilor Milan Tadić said that many good things had been done here and that work on the water supply network was planned for next year, which would resolve another major issue in Nova Crvenka: “First, I would like to thank all the guests who came to our village and helped make this important day for us even more special. A lot has been done in Nova Crvenka. As the municipal president mentioned, a kindergarten is opening here for the first time, and work on the water supply network is planned for next year. A children’s playground has also been built, giving our children a place to spend their time constructively. We have many more plans that we are already working hard to carry out, and I have no doubt that, with the strong and crucial support of the local government, much more will be done in Nova Crvenka—a place founded by our glorious ancestors. It is therefore our duty to preserve their memory and continually work to improve living conditions in our community.” Photo gallery
