New garbage truck for JKP Vodovod Crvenka

As of today, the public utility company Vodovod in Crvenka has a new piece of equipment. A new garbage truck arrived at the company today, and Vodovod director Miljan Drašković spoke about its importance both to the company and to the residents of Crvenka.

–“Today is a big day for us, because the truck we have been waiting for has finally arrived. I say ‘finally’ because we had to follow the required timetable for announcing the public procurement, selecting the most favourable bidder and, ultimately, taking delivery of a vehicle like this. We have replaced the old truck that served us for 18 years. Replacing it was necessary because spare parts and frequent repairs were a heavy burden on our finances. The old truck will not be sold for scrap; it will be overhauled, kept in a garage and made available to any of our municipal companies as backup. When deciding which truck to buy, we were guided by quality and the funds available to secure that quality. We chose a MAN truck, made in Germany, a name well known in the transport industry. The truck was purchased from Belgrade-based ‘Vatrosprem’, a reputable manufacturer of vehicle bodies for municipal services and fire brigades. The body is the most important part of a refuse collection truck: it is where waste is stored, compacted and transported to the landfill. The lifting system for small 1,1-cubic-metre containers and refuse bins is also very important. We will now be able to collect waste faster and better. I hope the residents of Crvenka see that ‘Vodovod’ is investing, developing and progressing. I therefore urge them to pay their utility bills regularly, so we can continue to provide them with the best possible service. We have bought a refuse collection truck; the next investment could be drilling a well, or whatever we decide is our priority,” said Vodovod director Miljan Drašković.

Equipping public utility companies to improve the quality of services they provide to residents is one of the local government’s priorities, says Kula Municipality President Damjan Miljanić, who attended the arrival of a new garbage truck at Vodovod in Crvenka.

–Providing quality services is the primary goal of all municipal departments, including public utility companies, and one of the prerequisites for achieving this is, alongside qualified and trained staff, having the right equipment. Today in Crvenka, after many years, we have a major investment—a new utility vehicle. There will be more such additions to our public utility companies this year, as agreed between the companies and the Municipality, which founded them. The services provided by the public utility companies throughout the municipality have been of good quality so far, and this will only improve them. The work that public utility companies contract with the Municipality also generates significant revenue for their operations and enables their continued development. The Municipality’s policy and intention is to contract as much work as possible with public utility companies when they are able to do it, rather than seeking providers on the market. This will generate additional revenue for the companies and help them develop their operations, said Kula Municipality President Damjan Miljanić.
