Residents of Nova Crvenka and their guests are celebrating the day of their village today. The program began with guests and locals gathering, as is customary, in front of the monument in the village center to lay a wreath at noon at the monument to the Salonika volunteers, commemorating those who took part in the wars of liberation from 1912 to 1918.
Kula Municipality President Damjan Miljanić said that Nova Crvenka’s Town Day is traditionally celebrated, but this year the festivities have been expanded, as the state holiday—the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag—is being celebrated for the first time as well.
“There is no better place than Nova Crvenka for this ceremony. Nova Crvenka is a Salonika village, a place founded thanks to the soldiers of the First World War who took part in the breakthrough of the Salonika Front. This is also a message that no village is too small and no person or small village will be forgotten by either the municipality or the state,” said President Miljanić.
Milorad Tunguz, secretary of the Nova Crvenka Local Community, said that this year the organizers had done everything to mark this day as ceremoniously and beautifully as possible, as it is very important for Nova Crvenka, the Municipality of Kula, and the Republic of Serbia. Tunguz thanked everyone who supported the celebration of Nova Crvenka Day in such a festive manner: the Municipality of Kula and its president, Damjan Miljanić; the public utility companies in the municipality, their directors, and employees.
After the welcome speeches, guests enjoyed a suitable cultural and artistic program on the stage in the village center, followed by lunch for all guests celebrating Nova Crvenka Day at the renovated Pensioners’ Club. The Nova Crvenka Day celebrations will conclude this evening with a concert for young people, which will begin at 19.
