Sports weekend preview

KULA, 04.11.2022 – The upcoming sports weekend will feature several municipal derbies. The handball derby is attracting the most attention. In round seven of the Super B League championship, Crvenka and Sivac 69 will face off. Judging by the teams’ positions in the standings, the favorites are the “squirrels,” since Crvenka handball players have recorded four wins, one draw and one loss over the previous six rounds, while Sivac handball players have managed just one win. Add to that the fact that Crvenka is playing at home, and it is clear why the Crvenka team are favorites. However, they must prove themselves on the court, and Sivac handball players will certainly use the match in Crvenka to show that they have quality and can compete on equal terms with any opponent. The match between Crvenka and Sivac will be played at the “Slobodan Čile Mišković” Hall in Crvenka on Sunday, starting at 18.

In the sixth round of the First League championship for women, the women’s handball club Krule will host Železničar 2 from Inđija in Sivac. The Inđija team is near the top of the standings, which shows that the match will not be easy for the women of Sivac. However, given that they won in the previous round, Sivac’s young handball players can play without any pressure, and such an approach can sometimes bring a favorable result. The Krule–Železničar 2 match from Inđija will be played at the Sivac sports hall on Sunday, starting at 15 hours and 30 minutes.

Our other First League team, Crvenka’s Laki, visit Mladost in Srpska Crnja. Mladost’s women’s handball team have earned only one point so far this season, and this gives the young Crvenka players cause for optimism, as they believe they can return from this away match with a positive result. Mladost–Laki will be played in Srpska Crnja on Sunday, kicking off at 18 hours.

Coming up: a preview of football events.

In the 13. round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group championship, Hajduk will host Borce from Šajkaš. The Kula team pleasantly surprised everyone in the previous round, winning away from home, and on the back of that success they say they will seal the victory in Belegiš with another triumph in front of their home fans. However, it will not be easy, as injured Nikola Šakić will be absent. It is also worth remembering that the visitors from Šajkaš won in Kula last season. Another motivation for Hajduk is the fact that a win would see them move above Borce in the standings. The match between Hajduk and Borce from Šajkaš will be played tomorrow at the Milan Sredanović Stadium, kicking off at 13 o’clock.

The thirteenth round of the Sombor District League will feature a municipal derby. Fifth-placed Crvenka will take on current league leaders Rusin from Ruski Krstur in Crvenka. Crvenka have no choice: if they want to remain in the race for the top places, they must win. The Krstur side also have to go for a win if they want to stay at the top, promising an exciting football spectacle. The match between Crvenka and Rusin will be played tomorrow at the “Milorad Džomba” Stadium in Crvenka, kicking off at 13 hours. Our third District League side, Lipar, will host ŽAK from Sombor on Sunday at 13 hours. Lipar have lost their previous two matches in front of their home supporters and are surely determined to end this unpleasant run as soon as possible.

The 13. round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division championship will also feature a municipal derby. Mladost and Kula will face off in Kruščić. The home side need points to escape the danger zone, while Kula also need points to remain near the top of the standings, so it should be an interesting match. League leaders Polet will host Radnički from Sombor in Sivac. The Sivac team are determined to preserve their lead with a victory. The matches in Kruščić and Sivac are scheduled for Sunday and will kick off at 13 o’clock.

In the sixth round of the Serbian Regional League, North group, Hajduk’s basketball players will visit Železničar in Inđija. The Kula team disappointed in the previous round, when they lost on their home court; now they are visiting the league leaders, giving them a chance to show that the defeat was just a bad day. The basketball match between Železničar and Hajduk will be played in Inđija on Sunday, starting at 18 hours and 30 minutes.

In the fourth round of the First Vojvodina League, North Group championship, Hajduk’s women’s volleyball team will face league leaders CVS Elbrako Tehnolend from Sombor. The match was supposed to be played in Kula, but because the hall in Kula is occupied for a small-animal exhibition, the home-and-away arrangement was reversed. The match between Hajduk and CVS Elbrako Tehnolend will therefore be played in Sombor on Sunday, starting at 17.

Hajduk’s volleyball players played their fourth-round match in the First Vojvodina League, East group, on Wednesday. At the hall in Ruski Krstur, Hajduk beat Vrbas 3:1, with set scores of 25:15, 15:25, 25:23 and 25:14. With six points earned, Hajduk are in the middle of the standings, and in the next, fifth round, they will visit Mladost in Turija.
