Preview of sporting events this weekend

The matches in round 14 of the championship this weekend bring the group stage of the ARKUS Super League to a close, and Crvenka’s handball players host Dubočica of Leskovac in the final round. Apart from personal prestige, the match has little competitive significance, as Dubočica will continue the championship in the group competing for the title, while Crvenka will play in the group seeking to remain in the top flight. However, buoyed by their win in Zrenjanin, Crvenka’s handball players are promising a victory. Coach Vladimir Zejak said he would use the match as good preparation for the play-out, and would expect his players to move the ball quickly in attack and play aggressively in defense, creating opportunities for counterattacks and fast breaks—in other words, so-called easy goals. The match between Crvenka and Dubočica of Leskovac will be played tomorrow at the “Slobodan Čile Mišković” sports hall and will begin at 19.

The basketball championship also continues over the weekend. In the 12 round of the First Serbian League, Hajduk travel to Futog to face the team of the same name. Hajduk coach Danilo Borović says his players enter every match aiming to win, and the same will be true in Futog. Hajduk’s handicap is that they played only one friendly during the preparation period, while the other teams played postponed matches and are better match-ready. Hajduk will be without the injured Uroš Lješević in Futog, but everyone else is healthy and eager to compete for points. The Futog–Hajduk basketball match will be played in Futog tomorrow, starting at 19 hours and 30 minutes.

The football teams will use the weekend to play friendly matches and assess their preparations. Serbian League side Hajduk will host Tekstilac of Odžaci in Kula tomorrow. The match will kick off at 14. Vojvodina League side Crvenka will visit Kruščić on Sunday to face Mladost. The match will kick off at 14 hours and 30 minutes. District League side Rusin will host Njegoš of Lovćenac at its ground in Ruski Krstur on Sunday, starting at 14. Lipar’s footballers will play two matches over the weekend. First, they will visit Kucura tomorrow, where they will face Iskra at 14 hours and 30 minutes, and then on Sunday at 14 they will host BSK of Bački Brestovac in Lipar. Kula’s footballers, members of the first division of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, will visit Savino Selo on Sunday to play Budućnost at 14. Our fourth representative in the first division of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, Sivac’s Polet, will host Bratstvo of Prigrevica in Sivac on Sunday at 15.
