Preview of sporting events this weekend

As spring approaches, there are more and more sporting events, and this coming weekend handball, basketball, volleyball, bowling and football will be in the spotlight for sports fans.

After a three-week break, Crvenka’s handball players are beginning the relegation play-out, where they will try to retain their place among the handball elite. In the seventh round—Crvenka played the first six in the group—the “Squirrels” visit Novi Pazar. Crvenka coach Vladimir Zejak says his team faces an extremely difficult away fixture, as the journey to Novi Pazar is long and the home side is experienced; it missed out on a place in the play-offs by just one point. However, Crvenka’s handball players trained well during the break, and the medical situation is favorable, with no one ill or injured. Now that Nikola Perović’s registration has also been completed, the team has gained extra quality in both attack and defense. Zejak says that if everyone gives their best, they can expect good news from Novi Pazar. The match between Novi Pazar and Crvenka will be played in Novi Pazar on Sunday, starting at 20.

After two away wins, handball players from Sivac were supposed to host the team from Ub in the 11 round of the Super B League championship. However, the match was postponed because of coronavirus cases in the Ub team.

In round 9 of the First League championship for women’s handball, Laki will host Jadran from Feketić in Crvenka. The match will be played at the “Slobodan Čile Mišković” hall in Crvenka on Sunday, starting at 18.

Hajduk’s basketball players are starting the First Serbian League playoffs. In the first round, Kula will host Železničar from Inđija. Hajduk carried three wins into the playoffs, the same number as Železničar, and Hajduk coach Danilo Borović, noting that they know their opponents well, says that greater determination will decide the match, and is confident his players will show it on the court. The match between Hajduk and Železničar from Inđija will be played tomorrow at the Petefi Brigada Primary School sports hall in Kula, starting at 19.

Hajduk’s volleyball players visit Maglić in the 11th round of the First Vojvodina League, where they will take on Maglić 1953. Given that Hajduk tops the league while the hosts are second from bottom, another win for the Kula volleyball team can be expected. The Maglić 1953–Hajduk volleyball match will be played in Maglić tomorrow, starting at 16.

Hajduk’s bowlers will also be competing for points this weekend. In a postponed match from the autumn half of the Serbian First League, Vojvodina group, Hajduk’s bowlers visit Debeljača on Sunday, where they will face Spartak at 10.

In the 12 round of the Vojvodina Futsal League, Hajduk’s futsal players travel to face Fortuna in Futog. The hosts are bottom of the table, without a point, so this is a good opportunity for Hajduk’s players to strengthen their position in mid-table with a win. The match between Fortuna and Hajduk will be played in Futog on Sunday, kicking off at 18.

Our football teams are nearing the end of preparations for the spring half of the championship, so the stronger ones will play what are known as dress rehearsals over the weekend.

Serbian League side Hajduk will play their final warm-up match tomorrow. Starting at 13, Kula’s team will play a friendly against hosts Bečej in Bečej. Vojvodina League side Crvenka will have their final warm-up against District League side Rusin from Ruski Krstur. Crvenka and Rusin will play their friendly in Crvenka tomorrow, kicking off at 15. The spring half of the season begins on the first weekend of March for Serbian League side Hajduk, Vojvodina League side Crvenka and District League side Rusin.

Our representatives in the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division—Kula, Polet from Sivac, Lipar and Mladost from Kruščić—have two more weeks to prepare. They will all test their readiness on Sunday. On Sunday, Polet will host Kordun from Kljajićevo in Sivac at 15 hours and 30 minutes; Mladost will host Kula in Kruščić at 15; and Lipar will also take on the team of the same name in Stari Žednik at 15.
