Preview of sporting events this weekend

An exciting sports weekend lies ahead, featuring handball, basketball, volleyball and football.

Sivac’s handball players begin their spring campaign for points in the Super B League championship. Tonight, in a match in round 9 of the championship, they will visit Bačka Palanka, where they will face Lavovi. The teams are in the middle of the table, and the match is made more intriguing by the fact that both tonight’s opponents have only just finished their preparations, so neither team’s form is known. Tonight’s league match, Lavovi – Sivac 69, will begin in Bačka Palanka at 20 hours and 30 minutes.

In the 13. round of the First Serbian League championship, Hajduk's basketball team hosts I Came to Play from Novi Sad. The team from Kula have secured a place in the group that will compete for the title in the playoffs, while the visitors will be fighting to stay up through the play-out, so the points from their head-to-head match will not carry over. However, Hajduk coach Danilo Borović says he will expect his players to perform with the utmost responsibility, and that younger players will also get a chance to gain experience ahead of the playoffs. The match between Hajduk and I Came to Play from Novi Sad will take place tomorrow in the Petefi Brigada Elementary School sports hall, starting at 19.

Before the basketball players, Hajduk’s volleyball team will take to the court at the Petefi Brigade Elementary School gym. In the 9 round of the First Vojvodina League championship, Hajduk host Klek Srbij šume 2 from Klek. It is the round’s derby, as Hajduk are second in the standings with 20 points, while the team from Klek are third with 19 points. However, coach Milorad Lazić’s team, buoyed by their away win against league leaders Slovan in Ruma last round, say they will make use of home-court advantage and claim victory. The Hajduk–Klek Srbij šume 2 match from Klek will begin tomorrow at 16 hours and 30 minutes.

March is approaching, when the footballers will begin the spring championship, so weekends are being used to play friendly matches.

Hajduk 1912, a Serbian League team, will play a friendly match against Tisa tomorrow in Adorjan. The match will begin at 13.
