Preview of sporting events over the weekend

The weekend for clubs from our municipality begins tonight, when handball players from Crvenka and Hajduk’s basketball players take to the court.

In the second round of the ARKUS Serbian Super League relegation playoffs, Crvenka’s handball players host Red Star of Belgrade. The visitors currently lead the standings, while Crvenka are at the bottom. Despite this, Crvenka coach Vladimir Zejak expects an exciting match that will be decided by a few balls, and predicts a win for his team. His optimism is based on the fact that the teams are of similar playing strength, that the atmosphere in the Crvenka team is excellent, and that Crvenka’s players will try to make the most of home-court advantage. As for the squad, the participation of experienced back Miloš Ivić is uncertain, while all the other players are ready for tonight’s match. The Crvenka–Red Star match at the Slobodan Čile Mišković sports hall will begin tonight at 18.

In the second round of the First Serbian League playoff, Hajduk’s basketball players will travel to Stara Pazova tonight to face the team of the same name. The team from Kula opened the playoff with a win, while Stara Pazova lost, so, as Hajduk coach Danilo Borović said, if his players give their all and go into the game believing above all in their own quality, we can expect good news from this away match. The basketball game between Stara Pazova and Hajduk will begin tonight in Stara Pazova at 20 o’clock.

Saturday will feature handball, football and volleyball.

Sivac’s handball players host Kolubara from Lazarevac in round 12 of the Super B League championship. The team from Sivac made a great start to the second half of the season, winning both away matches in Bačka Palanka and Novi Bečej, and are looking ahead to tomorrow’s match with considerable optimism. The Sivac camp knows that Kolubara are currently top of the table, but believe in their own abilities and home advantage, and say the teams have an equal chance of winning. As for the squad, Sivac will be without captain Kalić and young Predojević against Kolubara, as both are in self-isolation. The handball match between Sivac and Kolubara of Lazarevac will be played tomorrow at the sports hall in Sivac, kicking off at 19 hours.

The spring half of the Serbian and Vojvodina football league championships begins tomorrow.

In the opening round of the spring half of the Serbian League season, Hajduk’s footballers visit Stari Grad. Hajduk coach Slobodan Milović has words of praise for the home team, describing them as a quality side, but says he sees no reason why his players cannot show all the good work they did during the preparatory period—and if they do, a favorable result is within reach. The Stari Grad–Hajduk match will be played tomorrow in Bačka Palanka, kicking off at 14 hours and 30 minutes.

In the opening round of the spring half of the Vojvodina League season, Crvenka’s footballers host Srbobran. Crvenka coach Milan Vujaković is optimistic and says he expects a win. His optimism is based on the good work his players did during the preparatory period and on the fact that they are playing at home, knowing that a win would make the rest of the season easier, with staying in the Vojvodina League as their primary goal. What is causing some concern is the minor injuries to Milenko Babić and Marko Kerekeš, whose participation is uncertain. The match between Crvenka and Srbobran will be played tomorrow at the Milorad Džomba Stadium in Crvenka, kicking off at 14 hours and 30 minutes.

In round 12 of the First Vojvodina League championship, Hajduk’s volleyball players host Vrbas in a local derby. Hajduk lead the standings, while Vrbas are near the bottom, so, with home-court advantage as well, it is understandable that coach Milorad Lazić’s players are announcing another win that would further strengthen their position at the top. The match between Hajduk and Vrbas will be played tomorrow in the Petefi Brigade Primary School hall, kicking off at 16 hours and 30 minutes.

Footballers and futsal players will be in action on Sunday.

The spring half of the Sombor District League season begins this weekend, with footballers from Rusin of Ruski Krstur competing in the league. In the first round, Rusin travel to Kulpin. Although the team has personnel problems because some first-team players are ill, Rusin coach Zlatko Sajanković says he hopes for a good result. The Kulpin–Rusin football match will be played in Kulpin on Sunday, kicking off at 14 hours and 30 minutes.

Hajduk’s futsal players host Novi Sad’s Tango in round 13 of the Vojvodina Futsal League championship. The teams have earned the same number of points so far this season, but buoyed by their away win in the previous round, Hajduk’s players say they will make good use of home-court advantage and record another victory. The match between Hajduk and Tango of Novi Sad will be played on Sunday at the Petefi Brigade Primary School sports hall, kicking off at 19 hours.
