The upcoming sports weekend will feature the sixth-round basketball championship derby in the Serbian Republic League, Northern Group, with Hajduk and Joker from Sombor meeting in Kula. Both teams have won all five of their matches so far, and one of them will suffer its first defeat after the derby. Hajduk coach Danilo Boović says the match against Joker is one of the most important of the season, as they are hosting a team built to compete in the Serbian First League. It is still unclear whether Ivan Đurović, one of the team’s top scorers, will be available for Hajduk. Efforts are being made to get him fit for the game. In any case, the “Hajduk players” say they will not back down and call on fans to come in as large numbers as possible and cheer them on to a sixth win. The match between Hajduk and Joker from Sombor will be played on Sunday in the Petefi Brigade Primary School gym, kicking off at 19.
Because of EHF Week, the top handball teams are not playing this weekend, so the Sivac and Crvenka men’s teams will be resting. There will still be handball, though—First League women’s handball, as the women take to the court. In round 7 of the Women’s First League, Sivac’s Krule team will host Ravangrad from Sombor in front of its supporters. In round 13 of the Serbian League, Vojvodina Group, Hajduk will play away in Odžaci, where they will face Tekstilac. Odžaci are near the top of the table and aim to join the battle for promotion. On Sunday, Rusin will host Budućnost from Gložan in Ruski Krstur, determined to make amends for its defeat in Parage, while Lipar will host ŽAK from Sombor. Lipar have strung together five consecutive wins and are playing in front of their home fans, so it is understandable that they are aiming for a sixth. All these matches will start at 13 hours.
In the 12 round of the Sombor Intermunicipal League, First Division, second-placed Kula host Dinamo from Bački Breg at Geder, determined to win and remain in contention for the autumn championship title.
