Sports weekend ahead: what to expect

There are fewer and fewer sporting events, but the coming weekend will be interesting too.

In the tenth round of the Super B League championship, Crvenka’s handball players host Inđija. Crvenka are on a good run of four consecutive wins, in both the league and the Cup, and the atmosphere in the team is very good, so it is no surprise that they say they will be celebrating again after the match against Inđija. Of course, they know it will not be easy, as Inđija are an experienced side, but Crvenka’s handball players say they will give their all to continue their winning run and move even closer to the top of the standings. The match between Crvenka and Inđija will be played in Ruski Krstur on Sunday, starting at 18. Our other Super League team, Sivac 69, travel to Morava in Velika Plana in the tenth round. Buoyed by their win over Vrbas and by the fact that Morava are bottom of the standings, Sivac’s handball players say they are going to Velika Plana for points. Sivac coach Branko Žeželj wants the same, but urges caution, as Morava won away in the previous round. The match between Morava and Sivac will be played tomorrow in Velika Plana, starting at 20.

In the tenth round of the First League women’s championship, both clubs from our municipality are playing away. The women’s handball club Laki from Crvenka will visit Spartak in Debeljača. Given that Spartak are fourth in the standings and Laki are bottom, it is clear who the favorite is in the match, which will be played in Debeljača tomorrow and will start at 19. The newcomers to the First League, women’s handball club Krule from Sivac, will visit Srpska Crnja, where they face Mladost. Since this is a match between teams in the middle of the table, any result is possible. The match between Mladost and Krule will be played in Srpska Crnja on Sunday and will start at 17.

In the ninth round of the Northern Group of the First Republic League, Hajduk’s basketball players host Topola from Bačka Topola. The team from Kula lost in Žitište in the previous round, so the game against Topola is an opportunity to make amends. Given that Hajduk only beat Topola after overtime in their first meeting this season, played in Bačka Topola, it is clear that things will not be easy in Kula either, so Hajduk coach Danilo Borović is calling on the fans to be the sixth player. The game between Hajduk and Topola from Bačka Topola will be played tomorrow in the Petefi Brigade Primary School gym in Kula, and will start at 19.

In the ninth round of the First Republic League championship, Sivac’s women’s basketball team will host Jedinstvo from Novi Bečej. The Sivac women won away in the previous round and are now hosting the team at the bottom of the standings, so it is only logical that they are predicting another win. The match between Sivac and Jedinstvo from Novi Bečej will be played tomorrow in the Sivac sports hall, starting at 15.

In the seventh round of the Second League, Hajduk’s volleyball players travel to Novi Sad to face Vojvodina NS Seme 3. The hosts are a young and very promising team led from the bench by former volleyball star Strahinja Kozić, and are certainly favorites in the match to be played tomorrow at SPENS, starting at 20. Hajduk’s women’s volleyball players, members of the First Vojvodina League, have a bye in the seventh round.

In the ninth round of the First Vojvodina League bowling championship, a local derby is on the schedule, with Vrbas and Hajduk from Kula facing off in Vrbas. Vrbas are top of the standings and will be playing in their own hall, but that will not give them an advantage, as Hajduk, currently in second place, also play their home matches in Vrbas. The local derby will therefore come down to the players’ form on the day. The match between Vrbas and Hajduk’s bowlers will be played tomorrow at the Centre for Physical Culture in Vrbas, starting at 16.
