Sports weekend ahead: what to expect

The upcoming sports weekend will be marked by the end of the autumn football season for clubs from our municipality, and will kick off this evening with Hajduk’s volleyball players.

In the sixth round of the Serbian Second League championship, Hajduk’s volleyball players, newcomers at this level of competition, host Partizan from Bač. In the first five rounds, the people of Kula have yet to taste victory, paying the price of competing at a higher level, but they are playing better from match to match, so the club hopes they could earn their first points tonight. To do so, they need support from the stands, and are calling on volleyball fans to come in as large a number as possible and help them win. The match between Hajduk and Partizan from Bač will be played tonight in the Petefi Brigada Primary School sports hall in Kula, starting at 20 hours.

Hajduk’s women’s volleyball team will visit Apatin in the sixth round of the First Vojvodina League championship. The home team is fourth in the standings, will play in front of its fans, and is the favorite, but Hajduk’s camp says it will not give up easily and will also use the match to further develop the team’s cohesion. The match between the women’s teams of Apatin and Hajduk will be played in Apatin on Sunday, starting at 14 hours and 15 minutes.

Both teams from our municipality competing in the Super B League are at home in the 9 round of the championship. Sivac 69 will host Vrbas Petrol from Vrbas in front of their supporters. Sivac are on a losing streak, having lost their last three league matches, and now face Vrbas, a young and fast team. This means that Branko Žeželj’s players will have to give their all if they want to end their poor run of results. The match between Sivac and Vrbas Petrol will be played in Sivac tomorrow, starting at 19.

Our other representative in the Super B League, the Crvenka handball team, host Smederevo. Crvenka’s form is improving: they celebrated a win in the Cup and then away in the league, and on the back of those results they welcome Smederevo, currently second in the standings. Crvenka need a win to move closer to the top half of the table and maintain their chances of fighting for a return to the top tier of handball by the end of the season. The match between Crvenka and Smederevo will be played tomorrow in Ruski Krstur, starting at 18.

In the ninth round of the Women’s First Handball League, the Krule team hosts Jabuka in Sivac. The match is scheduled for Sunday and will begin at 17. The young handball players from Crvenka, the Laki team, were supposed to host Mladost from Srpska Crnja. However, because the Crvenka sports hall is being renovated, the home fixture was switched, so Mladost and Laki will face each other tomorrow at 18 in Srpska Crnja.

The autumn half of the football season for clubs from our municipality ends this coming weekend.

In the final autumn round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina group, Hajduk’s footballers will visit Vršac. Given that Vršac are second in the standings while Hajduk are bottom, it is clear who the favorite is. Hajduk are aware of this, but say they will do their best to put up a worthy fight against Vršac, and that the result will reflect their performance. The Vršac–Hajduk match will be played in Vršac tomorrow, starting at 13 hours.

In the final round of the autumn half of the season in the Sombor District League, all three teams from our municipality are playing at home. Former first-league side Crvenka host Kordun from Kljajićevo on their home ground tomorrow. Crvenka must win if they do not want to remain stuck near the bottom of the table. On Sunday, Rusin host bottom-placed Radnički from Sombor in Ruski Krstur, and anything other than a convincing win for the Rusin footballers would be a major surprise. The toughest challenge will be for Lipar, who host Bratstvo from Prigrevica in front of their fans on Sunday. Given that Bratstvo have won all fourteen of their previous league matches and lead the table by a wide margin, it is clear that Lipar will have to give their maximum if they want to succeed. All these matches will kick off at 13.

Hajduk’s basketball players will visit Sveti Đorđe in Žitište in the 8 round of the Serbian First Regional League, northern group. Hajduk coach Danilo Borović says that Sveti Đorđe are a tough opponent and have strengthened their squad in the meantime. This means his players will have a difficult task, especially as Đurović and Mandić will be absent and center Tešović is doubtful. Nevertheless, the “Hajduks” are aiming for a win, as points from head-to-head matches between the two teams will carry over to the playoffs. The Sveti Đorđe–Hajduk basketball game will be played in Žitište tomorrow, starting at 19 hours and 30 minutes.

In the 8 round of the First Regional League, North Group, Sivac’s women’s basketball team will play away in Bačka Palanka tomorrow, where they will face Delfin at 14 hours and 30 minutes.
