A number of activities have been undertaken at the Kula Health Center in the areas of timely examinations and prevention of the most serious illnesses. The campaign, conducted by the Kula Health Center with the support of the local government, carries a clear message: preventive examinations save lives in many cases, and it is extremely important to make time for checkups even when there are no symptoms of any health problem.
The director of this institution, Dr. Vesna Tomić, spoke about the importance of screening tests that can be done at the Kula Health Center:
“What is important when we talk about screening tests is raising health awareness and tackling problems as soon as possible, before they arise. This means making the public familiar with the entire screening process, not only screening for certain cancers, but also for other diseases. Screening itself is very important: we are providing the conditions for adequate prevention aimed at early detection, followed by appropriate treatment and, consequently, improving the patient's health. It is important to note that patients' awareness of this issue has increased, and screening tests have been widely used in our country lately. We are currently running a campaign of mammograms and ultrasound examinations to prevent breast cancer, which is unfortunately a major and leading cause of death among women in Serbia after 45. year. In addition to that type of examination, we will also work to raise patients' health awareness about the examination itself, thereby ensuring that patients come in for checkups in a timely manner.”
With the aim of raising awareness of the importance of timely preventive examinations, on 20 March the Kula Health Centre will conduct examinations to help prevent breast cancer. Specialists will perform ultrasound and mammography examinations. No referral is required, and you can register by phone on any working day from 9 to 14 hours, until 15 March, by calling: 064 84 92 488.
