Hajduk lost 1:0 to hosts Sloboda in Novi Kozarci in the 27. round of the Serbian League, Vojvodina group. According to Hajduk coach Ranko Delić, the match was decided by a fluke goal, and the reason for the defeat in Novi Kozarci was that the “Hajduks” played one of their poorer matches and underperformed in front of goal. Although the hosts' goal was “hanging in the air,” Slijepčević and Matijević failed to score from good chances, and without a goal there can be no favourable result. Hajduk are currently twelfth in the league table with 38 points, and host Borac from Sakule in the next round.
Crvenka's losing streak continues. In the 24. round of the Vojvodina League, North group, Crvenka lost 3:0 at home to Mladost from Bački Petrovac. It was the fourth consecutive defeat for Milan Vujaković's team, which was unable to benefit even from the return of experienced Zelić and speedy Marko Kerekeš after their suspensions. The match was decided by a penalty conceded by Crvenka goalkeeper Jokić at the start of the second half, which gave the visitors the lead. They then skillfully defended it and deservedly won after scoring two more goals late in the match. Crvenka are fifteenth in the table with 24 points, and travel to Bačka Palanka to face Krila Krajine in the next round.
The losing streak continues for Rusin of Ruski Krstur. In round 23 of the Sombor District League championship, Rusin visited Gložan and lost 3:0 to the hosts, Budućnost. This was the third consecutive defeat for the team from Krstur, who are gradually falling behind in the race for second place in the standings, which would take them to a playoff for promotion. Following the defeat in Gložan, Rusin are fourth in the standings with 41 point, and host Borac of Obrovac in round 24 in Ruski Krstur.
The eighteenth round of the championship in the Sombor Intermunicipal League First Division was marked by a local derby played at Geder in Kula, where the footballers of “Mladost” from Kruščić defeated “Kula” by 6:5. In a real goal fest, “Kula” made the better start, taking the lead at 3:0 and then at 4:2, but “Mladost” managed to turn the score around and claim a valuable victory in the fight to avoid relegation. Holovčuk scored four goals for “Kula” and Ristić scored one, while Grdinić was a hat-trick scorer for “Mladost”; Vlahović, Fekete and Pištinjat scored one goal each for the team from Kruščić. The footballers of Sivač’s “Polet” were also prolific, beating “Dunav” from Bački Monoštor 4:0 on their home ground. Nićetin scored twice for “Polet”, while experienced Furtula and Kalentić scored one goal each. “Lipar” duly defeated “Omladinac” from Deronje 2:0 at home, with goals from Đukić and Kovač. “Lipar” are second in the standings with 42 points, “Kula” are fourth with 31, “Polet” are sixth with 28, while “Mladost” remain bottom with 7 points. In the next round, “Mladost” host “Aleksa Šantić” in Kruščić, “Lipar” travel to “Hajduk” in Stapari, Sivač’s “Polet” play “Dinamo” in Bački Breg, and “Kula” have a bye.
There was no top-tier handball over the past weekend, as the Serbian Cup finals were being played, but there was plenty of action on the handball courts. In round 15 of the First League championship, “Laki” hosted “Ruma” in Crvenka, with the visitors winning 38:17. The visiting team showed their quality in the first half, allowing the young Crvenka handball players to score only 4 goals, while “Ruma” scored 16. Anđeli Lovre was the top scorer for “Laki”, scoring 7 goals. Following this defeat, “Laki” remain ninth in the standings, with 6 defeats, and will visit “Radnički” in Bajmok in the next round.
Unlike the women from Crvenka, the Sivac handball players were successful. In round 18 of the Second League championship, “Krule” beat “Jabuka” 23:18 at home in Sivac, thus avenging their only defeat so far this season. Coach Aljoša Bikički's team outplayed “Jabuka” in every aspect of the game, and the match was already decided after the first half, which “Krule” won 13:5. Aleksandra Jelenković was “Krule”'s top scorer with six goals. The Sivac handball players lead the league table with 26 points, and next round “Krule” visit bottom-placed “Deronje.”
The past sports weekend was marked by Hajduk Volleyball Club.
In the derby of round 17 of the First Vojvodina League championship, Hajduk’s volleyball team hosted Sloven of Ruma, won 3:1, and retained their place at the top of the standings. The first set was evenly contested, but Hajduk showed greater composure at the end and won it 25:23. After winning the second set 25:19 and taking a 11:6 lead in the third, it looked as though the team from Kula would secure a quick and easy victory. But Sloven then went on a 11:0 run, took a 17:11 lead and comfortably closed out the set, making a fourth set necessary. Hajduk dominated it completely, as the score of 25:7 shows. Hajduk are top of the First Vojvodina League standings with 44 points, and travel to Klek to face Klek Srbij šume 2 in the next round. A recording of the Hajduk–Sloven match from Ruma will be shown on KU Television tonight after the news at 20.
Hajduk’s women’s volleyball team defeated Respect of Kovilj 3:1 in sets away in Kać in the sixth round of the Second Vojvodina League championship. Hajduk won the first set 25:22, Respect took the second 25:20, Hajduk won the third 25:12, and the fourth 25:19, for a final score of 3:1. Milica Sekeruš, the team’s receiver, stood out for Hajduk with 15 points, while Iva Cicmil also put in an excellent performance with 11 points. With four wins and two losses, Hajduk finished the first half of the season second in the standings. Given their tremendous drive and commitment in both training and matches, it would be no surprise if they reached the top spot in the second half of the championship and earned promotion.
And a basketball update
Hajduk’s basketball team lost 81:67 away to Nova Pazova in the seventh round of the First Serbian League playoff, despite taking the first half 36:28. Hajduk again fielded a young side, but coach Danilo Borović says youth cannot excuse a lack of effort, and that his players’ poorer rebounding was also one of the reasons for the defeat in Nova Pazova. Young center Cvetićanin was Hajduk’s top scorer and best player in Nova Pazova, with 22 points. Hajduk are currently fifth in the standings with 6 wins and 7 losses, and host league leaders Hercegovac of Gajdobra in the final playoff round.
