Classes for adult primary education will begin again in mid-October this year in
Petefi Brigade Primary School, Kula. It is one of 5 schools in the West Bačka District certified by the Ministry of Education to provide primary education for adults.
Adult learners who have not completed primary school have the opportunity to earn two diplomas free of charge through an adapted program: a primary school diploma and a certificate of vocational training in a chosen occupation. The curriculum is delivered in 3 cycles: the first cycle (grades I–IV), the second cycle (grades V–VI) and the third cycle (grades VII–VIII and training for the chosen occupation). Classes end in early April of the following year, with winter break days off. For example, a candidate who has completed 6 grade will complete grades 7 and 8 between 15 October and early April. Someone who has not completed a single grade will complete 4 grades during the same period, and so on.
Travel expenses and organized transport are provided, and classes take place in the evening. The classes are engaging and practical—tailored to adults. They cover things that adults can put to use immediately; there are no textbooks and no homework…
During the previous 3 school year, only 8 grade was completed by 72 learners from Kula, Sivac, Crvenka and Ruski Krstur. (The oldest learner was 54 years old, and the enrollment requirement is: at least 15 years of age).
5 participants under the age of 17 continued their regular secondary education, and 2 participants from the first cohort Second Chances this year they are completing secondary school through the adult education program—for free.
Enrollment has already begun. Interested candidates can apply to the National Employment Service in Kula (723-175) or at “Petefi brigada” Primary School (723-944), where they will receive all the information about this unique opportunity.
