On 10 December 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which emphasises that these rights are universal and do not depend on national, state, ideological, social or cultural affiliation. The document protects people’s civil, political, economic, social and cultural freedoms and rights—from the right to life and liberty to the rights to dignity, privacy, social security and association. Kula Municipality President Damjan Miljanić wished the women and men of Kula Municipality a happy International Human Rights Day. His message reads:
“Everyone has the right not to be discriminated against and to be treated equally. If we aspire to a modern and developed community, then all citizens—women and men—must be recognised as equal members of our society, enjoy all their rights on an equal footing, and have equal opportunities for work and development. We will strive to ensure that every child and every person has the same rights, as well as equal opportunities for success and a fulfilling life.”
I wish all the women and men of Kula Municipality a happy International Human Rights Day.”
